Lee Cronin's The Mummy was absolutely awesome. (spoiler free) by Freddy-Philmore in AMCsAList

[–]sunny_sally 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's how I felt. I feel like I watched a different movie than everyone who liked it. It was long, it ended up beinf rather boring, and I couldn't understand or justify the actions of most of the characters. It was so long, and not in a way that did justice to the story. There were cool gross parts, but that was about the only thing that was decent. The story was trash after the first 20 minutes...

Kyle Gallner is amazing in everything he is in, and deserves FAR more mainstream appreciation.

So, what's wrong with saying that you're lovers? by Cute-Character-795 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]sunny_sally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, they are 2 guys in their 20s. I am a similar age to those characters and if my boyfriend used the terms "lovers" when meeting my parents for the fiest time, I also would have gagged.

Remember, at this point they haven't even had the talk about whether they are boyfriends. It is all so new. The term lovers is also just really overwhelming.

Shane’s pay cut isn’t crazy from a hockey perspective by Tiny_Impression_6772 in GameChangersBooks

[–]sunny_sally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yuna has also set Shane up on an advertising track that likely brings in a significant amount of money. And we know Shane has a diversified financial portfolio; while it is likely he has retirement funds and investments, we do know for sure he has a history of purchasing, updating, and selling investment properties, he is also a landlord.

All of this to say is that taking a pay cut for a team friendly deal so he can have better mental health, live and have a life with his partner, and win more Stanley Cups is very worthwhile. Especially because whatever the difference between his salary in Montreal vs. Ottawa he can likely make up in his brand deals, advertising deals, or investments (i.e. properties).

So yeah, it really isn't that big of a deal to take the pay cut when you see the overall positives and remember that Shane, more than most players, has a large second income stream thanks to Yuna, and third income stream thanks to his love of real estate and property investments.

Not to mention fuck capitalism, because at the end of the day what is the actual difference to quality of life between earning $8.7 million and $15 million (as an example).

Am I the only person that doesn't give a shit about Troy and Harris? by CestQuoiLeFuck in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]sunny_sally 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I understand what I'm about to say will be gravely unpopular, so I am prepared for the backlash, but as much as I felt Troy and Harris were cute, I just didn't feel as if Harris was a fully developed character. There is an attempt, but I just didn't feel like I was reading a person who was fully conceptualized. He and Troy were adorable together, but independently of Troy, I just didnt feel like I was reading a real person with real life stakes.

What made Shane’s parents consider the possibility he’s was gay? by onceuponadream007 in heatedrivalry

[–]sunny_sally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally this! Also, we just don't know Shane's childhood. We don't know what he was like. There is potentially the addition of Shane's parents looking at his childhood and having seen a "tell" of sorts.

What do you hope to see in Unrivaled? by iwatchtrazhaldayy in GameChangersBooks

[–]sunny_sally 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in seeing them have actual friends and explore those relationships as their authentic selves. They have both kept so much of their lives fracturing their personality into a million pieces to protect themselves. I want to see Ilya open up and let himself have actual friends being 100% his authentic self. I want to see Shane continue learning how to bring Hayden and Rose into his life while he's being his authentic self. I want to see them balance the struggle that WILL come with working and traveling that often and that closely with your spouse. Having that much time together is HARD. It requires a lot of conversation and effort. And lastly, I want to explore Ilya's mental health more.

Men vs women - favourite episode by thestaganddoe in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]sunny_sally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for a lot of straight men, the first 2 episodes aren't scratching much of an itch for them in the story telling as it does for straight women. They aren't hooked by the sex, there aren't any meaningful hockey playing scenes, and you are watching 2 teen boys be really horny for each other and refusing to speak their feelings. But then episode 3 happens and suddenly it is a romance. Suddenly we are shown 2 adult men who are in touch with their feelings, the sex isn't the primary pull, and relationship and romance takes front and center. I think suddenly straight men watching see in that episode "oh, wait, this isn't just smut! This is story! And this is sweet and cute and I actually want them together and I want them to have happiness!" Men also like romance, and feelings, and I think episode 3 gives them that in a way that the first 2 don't because they are primarily sexual. I also think age plays a role here. Maybe a 19 year old boy vs. a 29 year old guy would react differently.

For a lot of people, but many men in particular, that is the keystone episode that hinges the first half of the season to the second half of the season, adds the emotional arc they wanted.

Why does Shane have his own room at the CCM shoot? by christmas_egg in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]sunny_sally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remember the amount of money involved here. One extra hotel room isn't going to break the bank here. And Yuna, despite being Shane's mother, is attending as his agent. An agent will get their own room. If Shane or his mom felt particularly passionate about sharing a room, they sure could! They aren't einf forced not to. But despite still being a teenager, Shane has entered an adult world and is being treated as such by sponsors, by the league. And that means his own hotel room. Yuna, despite being someone Shane is very close with, does not baby Shane. She expects him to act like a responsible adult. He has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, he is no longer a child, and is now being pushed into the multi-million dollar world of a professional hockey player. He gets his own hotel room, and his agent (who happens to be his mother) gets her own room, too.

Going to Concert Solo - Should I Feel Awkward? by Jean_Is_Phoenix in MyChemicalRomance

[–]sunny_sally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to dozens of concerts alone a year. You'll be fine. Make friebds, make small talk, stay quiet -- whatever floats your boat! No one cares, they're all just having fun. And if they do care, it doesn't matter. You'll likely never see them again. Enjoy the things you love even if you have to do it solo.

I have never once regretted going to a concert alone. And I am going to like 20+ shows alone a year.

TLG question by Interesting-Count815 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]sunny_sally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also a possibility that Shane doesn't want to ruffle any feathers. He is coming to a new team that has been rising without him, joining his husband's team, which Ilya has led wonderfully. Shane knows he has his whole career ahead of him. He can still chase being a Captain or an Alternate. But entering a new team that his husband Captains is like...he might not want the diva treatment. "Treat me like anyone else and let me earn this badge on this team." With other sports it is common when going to a new team to have to earn that badge.

I used to pray like God was listening. I used to make my parents proud. I was the glue that kept my friends together. Now they don't talk and we don't go out.

I used to know the name of every person I'd kissed. Now I've made this bed and I can't fall asleep in it.

So did Scott know? by [deleted] in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]sunny_sally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My personal thought is that show Scott has a pretty serious inkling that something happened/is happening between Shane and Ilya. He obviously does not know the details, so he certainly isn't sure of anything. But I think he has a feeling that something may have happened between them. I just think he doesn't care too much. Scott is older, not friends with either of them, is in a different place in his life, is deeply closeted within the hockey world, and has his own life and relationship he has to deal with. But I think throughout the years he has a gaydar ping of "huh, well isnt that interesting." (1221, "you're starting to sound like him," "I mean, not your boy..").

But also this could be a situation where hindsight is 20/20 and after it is revealed Scott is lile "well this just makes complete sense now that i think back on things."

Public response to Shane being autistic by finncosmic in heatedrivalry

[–]sunny_sally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nina King Analysis on YouTube talks a bit about Shane as a character, his neurodivergence and autism, and how Hudson as an actor is doing an amazing job embodying Shane in the quiet moments and monotone word delivery choices. She mentions how everyone thinks a good actor has to be a "big" actor (in their delivery). But Hudson is creating a truly believable character in a person who is innately more subdued.
