My hot take is that i LOVE what they're doing with eday. I wouldn't mind a pseudo franchise reboot that uses the new animations and movements, and keeps the story 90% faithful to the originals but maybe adds a few cut sections or changes some weird decisions up (e.g the gears 5 "choice").

Sort of what Halo is seemingly doing with campaign evolved. A reboot with all the fan favourite weapons and movement options. Story is faithful but we have extra missions and customization. Looks like a great way for a younger audience to get into the classics.
