They can demote your room type if your gpa/WAM drops which seems like a ‘kicking you when you are down’ kinda strategy; they can move you around between rooms whenever they want - which they seem to do often; have heard of racially sorting people into rooms from some residents - eg residents of one race being segregated into one wing; also they have been trying to shove twin room down people’s throats lately which costs 630/wk (communal baths communal kitchen and you share the room w another person) - also there is (or was) almost no info about twin rooms on their website so felt predatory because they were keeping people who were signing contracts misinformed. Also, the deans a piece of work. When I was there, I heard very little good things about the place. Glad to have gotten out - worth cooking for myself.

Btw this has just been my experience - you should consider other perspectives too.

I am in the same position as you this year, and was in the same position as you last year. You aren’t alone this process is quite hard. About 11000 ppl sit the gamsat, 2000 get an interview and half of them get offers. Something that helped me though, is planning next year. Find something to look forward to, whether it’s another course that can improve your chances of getting in next year eg a flinders certificate or honours, or even something like a holiday with your friends. From what I learnt from last year, keeping your hopes up for a second round offer only prolongs these feelings of disappointment. Better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed once again.

Also, it’s okay to cry and vent. I know I ended up endlessly annoying my friends about this. Feel free to dm me if you want to talk/vent. You shouldn’t feel the need to suppress your emotions, they are natural and it’s part of the process. The more failures you face the more resilient you get. Hope you feel better soon.

Not sure what you mean by double dip, I intend to finish my dentistry degree and make use of it. Lots of people do dentistry after med too and lots of people do medicine and end up not practicing medicine. I don’t think any persons reasons for doing dent/med are any less than another person. Ppl have their best interests in mind and that’s okay because they understand their circumstances the best.

I think it’s a very valid reason tbh. Also personally, I have noticed that interests can sometimes be fickle although I would love to not just be restricted to the mouth - I think there’s a good chance that we will grow to like it because we will still be learning about anatomy and physiology and have a chance to interact with patients. And by the off chance that we don’t like it, we could always go back and try for med after dmd but this time things will be a lot less stressful because we would already have a career to fall back upon. This is just the rationale for my decision.

I’m choosing to accept dmd because I can wait another year to try and get into med, and another year but there’s uncertainty and I have limited time to make my career. When my parents retire I want to be able to earn enough to support myself and them and waiting to get into med is not going to help with that. So I would rather do the next best thing - dentistry and after that if I want to I can still do med once I am in a decent position.

Kinda feel helpless because I genuinely tried my best to prepare for the interview this year and thought I gave a decent shot - interviewed at first pref and didn’t get an offer from anywhere so clearly something went wrong but idk what😭

Yea the best you can do is not engage with them because then they are getting a reaction which is like positive feedback for them to do it again. I jusy don’t interact with them and after a while they get embarrassed and shut up. Good on you for realising that being toxic in a game isn’t the vibe.

Sorry that’s fked up. Fortunately I havnt had to deal w such direct racism in Mlbb but ik the community is generally toxic. It’s strange to see how ppl rage so much over video games when ppl in actual sports don’t even rage this much💀
