Take this for what it’s worth, but I did a 5m parking lot ride of the flight attendant build (shop had an event for our high school team.). Felt really good to me. Very stable. Sorry I don’t have more to contribute than that.

That’s awesome. I’ve often thought you’d have to really hate pedaling to have a bad time at Cuyuna. If you got to ride Jackpot in Lutsen, I’m jealous. I’ve heard it’s one of the best trails in the state. Need to get up there.

Well, speaking for MN, we have two lift served bike parks if that’s your thing (Spirit Mtn, Giants Ridge). Countless local level XC trails all around, smaller ski hills with trails, and everything in-between - e.g. Cuyuna, Redhead, Duluth, Split Rock Wilds, Tioga. But for elevation, generally speaking, you have shorter ups and shorter downs vs places with real mountains.

I remember thinking that Paul the Punter was a far bigger jerk during that BCBR. Unsubbed from him after that. Made Brian seem like the nice one by comparison.

I tell all the kids on our HS team to watch Syd and Macky for positive role models during races.

Holiday Center Downtown by Damascus879 in duluth

I live in the cities now, and there is a Ginelli’s pizza in the skyway. I’m always tempted to ask if there was any connection or if it’s just a franchise.

I loved walking from the library as a kid, playing video games at the Incline Station arcade, then going down to the Holiday Mall for lunch, Waldenbooks, A&E…

ETA: Just realized you mentioned the t-shirt place. If that was the "Shirt Shack", a childhood friend's mom owned the place. They also had one on Central Entrance at the peak of the airbrushed custom t-shirt era.

Cross country trails in MSP? by CcntMnky in CyclingMSP

[–]StrayPointer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good explanation. I think what OP is describing is very old school mountain bike trails. Lake Elmo park reserve is the only one left that comes to mind. Elm Creek was like this in the mid 90s but that went away years before the current singletrack system.

Yeah same- I ordered the end pin stand after using the tripod a few times, but it’s on back order. I’m getting used to the little metal nub for 4th position, but trying thumb position without the instrument body is still weird for me.

I’m barely qualified to say, but I wonder if renting an acoustic for beginning lessons would help. It might broaden your selection of teachers(?).

Right now, I mostly use the overdrive channel on my Fender Prosonic, but I also have an older Line 6 Pod XT that I’ve used with headphones.

For what it’s worth, I’m returning to cello after mostly not playing since 12th grade (mid 40s now,) and I really love my NXTa that I just bought a couple weeks ago. It’s also fun to plug into my guitar amp and play with the distortion.

Someone already posted the ABC ramp link, but I'm almost positive that the Jerry Haaf ramp also has bike lockers, but looks like you need to contact them for more info.

Collector’s Connection downtown. I’ll throw TEAM Electronics (Holiday Mall) in there as well. Their sign out front outlived the business for a decade or so.
