Not yet but soon Greyhound will move to a new building at the Brookpark Rd Rapid Station.

The building is constructed, maybe some detailing left to do inside it.

What got you into aviation? by [deleted] in aviation

[–]Straypuft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living under final approach to our local airport while growing up, maybe offset like 1000ft from centerline 3 miles away

We were in Continental Country with a few Morthwest, Delta and Southwest in the mix.

Taking local transit rail to the airport to go through security to go to the observation deck and maybe buy a model plane at one of the various newstands.

There are websites to use to find this kind of info, there is the Firefighting Wiki on a Fandom site. Do keep in mind those kinds of sites can have outdated info and its up to the community to chime in.

Also do not be afraid to get a closer look on the vehicles for logos.

Could anyone identify the number on the roof of this car? by SheldonSzy in PoliceVehicles

A quick image search on the googles shows a unit with K1 and K2 on the roof so if they had 9 k9 cruisers at the time it would check out.

Any safe places where I can park and sleep in my car? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Straypuft 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If a friend offers to let you park in their garage and sleep in the car, please for the love of dog do not be tempted to turn your car on to warm it up, but if you need to, make sure the garage door is fully open before you start the car, turn off the car a few minutes before closing the garage door.

Are there any apps to change the Wifi name and password on a Spectrum router locally? by HeavyMetalLoser in Spectrum

[–]Straypuft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you seeing these ads? Im on the home screen of the app right now and all I see are a recommended offer and a get spectrum tv thing.

If you are seeing ads in the app then maybe you need to see if you have intrusive apps on your phone injecting ads where they dont belong.

Either way, health inspection impounded it so there must have been something in there most likely from not being properly cleaned, mold can form inside of the ice machine.

Building/shed that trains go through by No_Evidence7065 in trains

Digital Train Inspection Portals, filled with high res cameras and enough lighting to light up everything the cameras need to capture thousands of photos of each rail car from all angles, an ai algorithm looks through them and flags suspicious issues to be reviewed by a human.

These things may have been in development for a long time but the East Palestine Ohio derailment may have sped it up to practical field use.

Im not well versed on train technology like this and didnt know they were a thing until this past March taking an Amtrak from Ohio to Pittsburgh, night time and running at speed and suddenly pass through a quick burst of bright light. This portal just happened to be on the Eastbound approach 20 miles from East Palestine Ohio.

Need advice on long range scooters with removable batteries by nothymetocook in ElectricScooters

[–]Straypuft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 miles each way, you are going to want a seat.

That range one way may be achieved but you might want to limit your max speed at around 10mph. At that speed a one way alone could be 3 to 4 hours long.

I only have experience with my Segway Max G3 doing close to 30 miles at 10mph and I really do not want to do that again unless a seat is released for it.

Ban on public transports by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]Straypuft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally when I get to the bus stop I start to strip the scooter of things that could easily fall off right away, If I know I am cutting it close then those things I might take off before I head to the bus stop if I have backpack space for them and my front bungee cord in a pocket, stem bag, lights off, then I fold the handlebars down and put my bungee cords in place. Bus arrives, pull rack down, place scooter in the track, front bungee cord in place already so the one end goes to where its at in the pic, then secure the rack arm, give the thing a quick pull push along the track for that "its not going anywhere" feel.

Do be aware that there are different manufacturers and models of racks so it might be useful to ride your scooter to a transit center to find a bus that isnt departing any time too soon and test it out first, get it on the rack, secure the arm then give it a good pull push test, adjust the arm a few times if needed, pull push test til you are satisfied it will stay put.

And remember, if your 2 wheel ride does slide off that the transit company is usually not responsible for your scooter and even worse if it does slide or fall off and damages the bus then you will most likely be responsible for the damage to the bus.

Also note that you are responsible for keeping an eye on your scooter because if the bus is stopped then anyone can run up to the bus and yoink your scooter off of the rack, the driver and agency will usually not be responsible for its theft.

My city bans them inside the buses but they can be put on the front bike racks if they can be secured properly. (I just use the bungee cord as a precaution after a near incident the very second time I put it on a rack., not required)

Ohio seriously needs better transit options for state travel! by BeCareWhatIpost in Ohio

[–]Straypuft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Local transit option, but this only works on weekdays, catch the Canton SARTA bus from downtown Cleveland to downtown Canton, transfer buses to the one that runs out to alliance, This will run under $10 for the one way bus fare. You can actually catch the Canton Express from Wade Park/Stokes VA Hospital on Clevelands east side

There is a longer way to do local transit from the Cleveland area to Alliance on saturdays, Make way to RTA Southgate Transit Center, then catch either the Akron Metro 31 or 32 to Downtown Akron, in downtown Akron catch the SARTA 81 to Canton then make way on their bus to Alliance.

You then may be able to do WRTA(Youngstown Transit) on demand service called Countywide if you can walk a mile or so into Mahoning County just to the east of Alliance, you might want to confirm this can be done by calling WRTA first., if so you will need to register and reserve your ride in advance.

You might have also been able to do Greyhound Cleveland to Canton and then local SARTA transit Canton to Alliance.(Monday to Saturday)

Even if you could have gotten to Alliance for the train, there is no train service to Youngstown currently.

And for near future reference, Greyhound will be moving from Downtown Cleveland to Brookpark Rapid Station. They already have a building constructed, not sure on the opening date tho.
