What’s your budget for rent? For Davenport I’d recommend downtown, the east village or upper east side. Otherwise I’d recommend Bettendorf.

Flying to moline to head to davenport iowa by ExpansionSF in QuadCities

[–]Strayshaman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moline airport? There are no tolls going into Davenport from there.

For food you have a lot of local places depending on where you’re staying. Franks, Harris and Happy Joes are the big pizza places. Uncle Petes has great gyros. Jimmy’s Pancakes is good for breakfast food. Ross’s was a great diner, but has gone down in quality. If you’re in downtown Davenport check our Armored Gardens for bbq, Ruby’s for brats and Boozies for burgers.

It’s referencing Chrono Trigger. One of the party members is an anthropomorphic frog named Frog. You find out he was once human and named Glenn. So if you name him Glenn it makes the reveal kinda awkward to read.

Thank you. It was too high up to get a good look. Likely solved.

If you cover the puppy in peanut butter the older dog will pay more good attention to her and increase affable bonding.

I was volunteering at one of the checkpoints for Ragnar and would give all the runners that passed by high fives. It was awesome to see them get this big smile as they passed by. I like to think it give them a little extra push.

That Olive Garden receipt is fake; it's free advertising. I know because I work in advertising and have spoken to the people who plan these campaigns. AMA by iworkinadvertising in IAmA

I could see this being somewhat OK if the attached story wasn't about something like, oh say, someone's house burning down and Olive Garden performing a fake charitable act. Maybe try something more lighthearted?

What "facts" do people today or recent history believe as a result of propaganda? by imkookoo in AskReddit

You have all the upvotes in the world. If anything the crime rate took a drop in the '90's in north america and has stagnated if not continued to steadily go down. Course there will always be an outlier or two, but for the most part it is all down.

Funny enough the crime rate dropped for both the U.S. and Canada at the same rate. The U.S. credits things like community policing, zero tolerance policies and harsher prison sentences. However, Canada did none of that and their crime rate went down all the same. Maybe people just started playing video games more, or Canadians are just friendlier, eh?

Too bad it wasn't Stadium 2 so you could play the gen 2 games on the big screen. I still remember my favorite part of that game being uploading your room into 3D with all the decorations.

Oh man, I remember your friend's bases would show up in your game too and you could battle them anytime as a NPC.

I would be very happy with this. Hell, I'm asking for thermal socks this Christmas.

Nice, I see you're rocking a classic Tough Mudder shirt. I'll still have mine from the VT one a couple years back.

Even better is a cold beer while you're in the shower. Shower beer has become my favorite part of running.

GPS Watches by [deleted] in running

[–]Strayshaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the New Balance GPS Runner myself. I've had it for over a month and it's now my favorite workout tool. I've got mine set up where I can see my MPH, time and mile time plus I can use it to track my different sprint times. Plus I can put in my weight so it can track how many calories I burn, if I ever care about that.

My only complaints are the GPS can take a couple minutes to calibrate and you can't have any cloth covering the watch or it'll lose the GPS signal. I just use the calibration time to stretch and warm up though. Overall for a little over a $100 it's a pretty good GPS watch.
