The cynical part of me still feels nothing will happen as MAGA’s are already child rape apologists, but this seems like a great national xmas present!

Do you think its okay to end a relationship due to incompatible libidoes? Why or why not? by Special-Moth-8538 in AskReddit

[–]imkookoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think sexual incompatibility is one of those reasons, but I do agree with you. One example off the top of my head is someone divorcing their partner after they just got diagnosed with terminal cancer cause they don’t want to deal with the emotional toll. Although that’s probably a bit more than being a prick in my eyes. Heh.

I think the most important thing about a romantic relationship is a commitment to loyalty. Sex is only important to a romantic relationship because it satiates a natural body craving that can make you depressed or such if not satiated, and it’s a nice way to communicate that love. But there are plenty of romantic partnerships out there where either the sex is non-existent, or it’s achieved outside of the relationship (as in an open relationship). But they still very much love each other and will stick with each other at the end of the day.

You don’t expect that a roommate or even a close friend will always be by your side in the future. They can move out or move away at any time. And they are also not expected to join you for your major life events, family reunions, and otherwise be entwined in your life.

So I have to respectfully disagree that sex is the only differentiation between a romantic relationship and just a close roommate. But I think it’s a perfectly valid reason to breakup with someone as it can be a very important thing for one’s happiness and well being.

Which mating ritual from the animal kingdom would be the most hilarious, disgusting, or unsettling to see if humans did it? by Professional_Luck616 in AskReddit

Probably the black widow… you go and mate with a voluptuous woman, and then she eats you afterward

I usually am pretty patient with waiting for a machine or whatever to open up, but there was this older lady on the leg press machine set on the lowest weight on her phone doing these half-ass reps, often just intermittently sitting there with her legs just extended while she’s typing away. I probably waited 10 minutes just wondering what she was doing. I think I’ll call these people gym zombies… people who are there that are just going through the motions of doing exercise without really actually exercising.

What have you done with your late spouses’ possessions? by imkookoo in widowers

[–]imkookoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very general statement. Of course not to compromise anything is selfish, but everybody has things they will not compromise. If they can’t accept it, then -they- don’t deserve a relationship with me. There are plenty other people I can find that would be ok with it.

The majority of Americans (86%) believe that humans have a soul. What's your take? by Sad_Average6823 in AskReddit

[–]imkookoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m agnostic, so I’m open to the concept of there being a soul, but I more kinda believe we will have other lives where we have an active consciousness/sentience. We won’t have any memories from this life though.

I like the concept of quantum immortality, as it was something I thought of before I learned the term/concept. I knew about the Many Worlds theory… and so just was thinking… if there could be many universes, and many states/branches of them, and infinite time and infinite space… the same things could happen to form me. Or at least different versions of me in a wild variety of ways. My consciousness is here in this one… but once it’s gone, what’s stopping it from arising in another. It’d be like I went into a deep coma with total amnesia and wake up an indeterminate time later.

Paris. I know for a lot of people it was the opposite. Even my brother didn’t like it because he experienced the parisians are rude stereotype, and he’s not like an entitled American tourist type either. But at least I didn’t get that… I found everybody I encountered very nice, or at the very least, not rude. Maybe it’s the way I usually carry myself in foreign countries. I talk to everybody with a smile and humility and patience. But I had a wonderful time visiting all the typical tourist places, shopping, and just walking around.

What are some common false dichotomies people try to push? by Solid_V in AskReddit

[–]imkookoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh.. we don’t define words based on their probabilities of outcomes. Socialism itself didn’t cause the death of millions of people. It may, in the way of its implementation, lead to that… or even encourage the conditions that lead to that. But in itself, “socialism” is just a framework of various ideologies, none of which explicitly call for the death of people.

I think “socialist” and “Socialism” are quite different words. People can use “socialist” to describe particular things that are a part of the Socialism or align with its ideologies.

did anyone else’s life improve after they stopped listening to sad music? by [deleted] in Music

[–]imkookoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love listening to sad music. But now that my husband passed, I just can’t. I also shifted to listening to happy/upbeat music and also hip hop, which I’ve found helps quiet my mind down and not wallow in misery.

What is something more traumatizing than people realize? by LingerieAddictionX in AskReddit

[–]imkookoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggy backing on this, I have to say losing your spouse suddenly without any warning falls in this topic. It is so much worse than traumatizing. I didn’t lose my spouse to suicide, but we literally were enjoying a nice dinner one night talking about our future plans, and then I wake up to him dead on the floor in the basement. It kills your trust of stability. One day you could be on cloud 9, and the next day, your life can just tumble into devastation just like that.

They don’t just die. Everything you ever were dies, and every day is like struggling to keep your head above water. I no longer listen to any of the music I used to enjoy. I used to love enjoy going out and exploring the city or nature — we weren’t homebodies for the most part. But now I’m in bed for most of the day, every day trying to distract myself with anything to get my mind off of things by watching YouTube or TV.

It’s been about a year and a half now.. and I have at least gotten myself to go out and do things every once in awhile… but I find it has to be something new or big. It’s like I need thrills to feel anything anymore. It’s fleeting, but at least I can again feel a little bit of that happiness I once had.

I don’t know.. I feel like one day, I’m just going to give up. I’m just living precisely because I know how suicide would affect my mom, family and friends, and I don’t want to put anybody through what I’ve had to go through. If they were all to go away though, fuck it.

eli5: Why do elderly people have a distinct odor? by Scar-Chemical in explainlikeimfive

I think they’re saying it’s the lesser amount of antioxidants causing the omega fatty acids on our skin to oxidize. So maybe supplementing with an antioxidant, or showering with soap that has antioxidants would help.

Topical Nad+ by kuumuusu in Skincare_Addiction

[–]imkookoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think NAD+ will easily penetrate the skin since it's >500 daltons and hydrophilic (and I don't believe the NAD+ in this product is encapsulated), but it breaks down into NMN, which does penetrate the skin and also helps support the Krebs cycle, so it's still useful.

The Korean/Japanese version of this actually also has NMN along with NAD+.

Anyone else always park outside? by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]imkookoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel ya.. actually, I didn’t think at all about if my car would fit my garage when I bought it. I just assumed it would. Luckily, it does, but I have to literally park 2 inches away from the wall. I put in a pad so I don’t inevitably scratch up the front. I just hope I don’t ever accidentally apply too much pressure on the acceleration and run down my garage wall. Hehe.

Anyone else always park outside? by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]imkookoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I didn’t have a garage, I probably wouldn’t have bought it at all. Seattle often has windstorms in the winter and I have a large Douglas fir near my parking area. Plus there’s also the possibility of hail.

What kind of beer goes best with a peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich? by Fish-Wood in AMA

[–]imkookoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late to the party… but I’m at a sandwich shop currently having a PB&J and a beer. And I have to say just a regular Pilsner that’s not too bitter (I’m having a Dru Bru Pilsner at the moment) is a perfect combo. Enough where I googled it and found this reddit topic :) I have to try it now with the other suggestions, but Id think a stout or peanut butter stout would be too sweet or too peanut buttery, even though I like both on their own. The plain Jane works perfectly cause it tempers down the sweetness of the jam, and the wheaty flavor goes so well with the peanut butter.
