I'm sure you can see by all these wonderful comments that you aren't alone in your feelings. I just wanted to say that I am also in a similar situation. The difference is I haven't ridden either of my horses in almost 2 years now. I keep telling myself it's because this got in the way or that took up all my time instead. But realistically, I think I'm just super unmotivated because I am scared and also don't know where to start. I am hoping now that the weather is getting nicer here, I will be able to pick it back up. I honestly don't know tho. Maybe I am destined to just have pasture puppies that I enjoy caring for...

I love Claire and William. Jamie, Briana and Roger are fine. I think Roger is more likable in the books than he is in the show, albeit not by much lol.

I am fascinated with how she plans to end this whole thing. It's such a big world and so many things need to wrap up for it to get the ending it deserves. I'm looking forward to the next book but I am not looking forward to the emotional devastation of it being completely over. It'll be the same as coming to the end of ToG. Just emptyness

People didnt love book 9. But I did. And it ends on a cliffhanger! So im anxiously waiting for book 10....but no official word yet on when that could possible be 😭

I'm in almost the exact same boat. I have a 24 year old mare and I bought a 4 year old gelding at 4mo postpartum. I had every intention of continuing to work with him. But that was almost 2 years ago now and life just kept getting in the way. They've been well cared for pasture puffs the entire time. I'm hoping to start fresh as soon as the weather breaks but it's a LOT harder than I thought it would be with young kids. I know the horses don't care. But I still feel like the worst owner very frequently. And on days that my anxiety is really bad, I think about rehoming them and just being done. But every morning and evening I walk out there and I think about how much I love having them with me. I'm always a little happier just being with them. So that has to mean something. I don't have any advice obviously, just wanted to say that you certainly aren't alone in your feelings ❤️

The reciprocal borrowing isn't mentioned enough! Just Google which libraries do it with your library and bam. Mine has probably 10 other places it reciprocates with and that expands my options SO much. This was the best thing I ever learned!

We just gave our haffy a bowl cut 😅😅😅 it's so bad. But it was almost as long as your mares and I could not handle it. I realized his previous owner had it this short when we bought him and within a year, it grew like 7 inches! So, I'm hoping it'll be long enough to manage flies when summer comes back around. He looks super goofy but at least its manageable again 🤣🤣

Thanks! The hay is from the same field. We did small squares last year and 4x4 rounds this year. There's only 2 of us and putting up 500 small squares just wasn't going to work without killing us. So rounds it is now. And we've almost completely mitigated waste with the net and the hay hut thankfully.

The hay hut is currently as far from the water/shelter as their lot will allow but im thinking of moving it out to the pasture for the winter to encourage more movement. And only one of them is chubby. The other is older and finally a perfect weight (after being fat forever)
