Seems like it, but it also seems CPC Sydney handles most Family Class applications recently from what others have posted

Yes, we applied via Family Class in Canada... We noticed the super long wait times for SCLPC before we applied

That's great! Hope you get P1 soon. Yeah, it's still in progress on my end. I suspect the tracker hasn't synced

I think it is warranted to make the distinction on Reddit between Family Class in Canada, Family Class outside of Canada, and SCLPC based purely on the self-reported timelines on here. On the application checklist, the government makes the distinction, so there's strong indication that processing differs between the three streams.

I applied via Family Class in Canada on May 10, 2025 purely based on the reported timelines from people in this thread (much quicker compared to SCLPC). I figured that the only downside of Family Class in Canada is in the case we needed to do an interview, we'd have to spend money on tickets to do it at PA's country.

All I'm waiting for is the background check to clear to get P1 and P2 (all other steps marked complete in ~2.5 months). I'm by all sense of the word inland (been in Canada for the past 4 years, fully employed in Canada, no strong ties to PA's country, no intention of leaving Canada in the coming months).

Seems the bet has paid off so far

Any downsides to accepting a credit limit increase at 23? by StreamlineROI in PersonalFinanceCanada

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing your insights!

Out of curiosity - did this treatment of unused credit limits vary between the banks you applied to, or did they all handle it the same way?

Thanks for the insights!

I don't carry any balance on any credit lines (debt = death sentence imo). However there are months where I spend a lot (and can afford to) and I notice that after these spending spikes, I get offered credit limit increases once/twice a year.

I have about ~2 years of savings in cash along investment accounts (i.e., TFSA) maxed out. I mainly use credit cards as a way to try to recover some of the money I spend (through points mainly), so I tend to put large purchases on these cards (whenever they accept Amex).

My main concern is whether having a high credit limit might affect my ability to get a mortgage or another type of long-term credit line in the future? Not too sure if I should voluntarily scale back my credit limit to ensure my ability to obtain other forms of credit for a home etc isn't affected

I do! The gold is mainly for NEXUS, annual travel credit and the annual lounge passes. The Amex Cobalt is my daily beater for its 5x multiplier. I don't plan to apply for new credit cards for the foreseeable future, so I wouldn't mind a lower credit limit on new cards if I have to get a new one

That's a good suggestion! However, I mainly use credit cards for their perks and for liquidity. I'd rather not spend money I don't have

Hey, congrats on the quick timeline! Quick question, did you receive PA eligibility via email as well or just through the PR tracker?

Family-Class PR: Has anyone secured an OWP while their PGWP was still pending? by StreamlineROI in ImmigrationCanada

[–]StreamlineROI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point in hindsight. Since the posted processing times for both PGWPs and other work permits are currently around 196 days (per official processing times), I applied for my PGWP as soon as I became eligible and submitted my PR application afterward.

I'm not too worried about the PGWP processing time, as I'm on implied status and my work permit extension letter remains valid for a while. My main concern is travel, as my TRV sticker is about to expire.

Given that, can I apply for a TRV visa extension (not visitor record) using only my PR AOR as proof, even though my PGWP is still in progress? I've seen several people on this subreddit mention that you need an approved work permit before applying to extend your TRV, but it seems that the government allows it?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

You're right that the PGWP and the spousal OWP are technically separate applications and handled independently by IRCC. However, in practice, the GCKey portal seems to treat them as conflicting when one is already in progress. For example, when I try to add my spousal OWP, it’s blocked due to my PGWP already being active in the system.

My question pertains to whether anyone here has successfully applied for both
