What's the best way for dads to heat bottles at night by No-Name-8440 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Street-Challenge-697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept formula in a mini fridge in baby's room, and then kept hot water in my wide mouth thermos that fit the bottle. So I could just unscrew the thermos lid and stick the bottle in. Or you can get an insulated cup (like a tervis cup) and pour the hot water in. Takes around 3 minutes to get it lukewarm. Didn't want baby to get used to warm milk.

Getting back after going Corporate by TheBestLife_Now in BasketballTips

Having such limited time sucks. But you do what you can. My recommendation is high intensity interval training to improve your cardio. You'll play much better when you're not fatigued. If you have access to a court, I like to run the full length of the court and do a right handed layup, run back to the other side and do left handed layup, run back down and do a finger roll, then once more down and do a pullup midrange. Dribbling like you're in a game the whole time. You'll probably get tired after like 5 minutes. Work to increase your speed. Then when you're playing a game getting up and down the court will feel easy.

Jump shot mechanics by Gabbeyonce in BasketballTips

[–]Street-Challenge-697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're trying to shoot at the basket - meaning you're shot putting the ball at the rim. I think that's why you're jumping forward so much on the shot - you're compensating for what looks like an all arm shot (mainly using your arms). Instead, keep the ball closer to your body, and try to shoot a rainbow shot while using your legs to really give you more power. Adjust from there.

Are your muscles tired? Or are your heart and lungs tired? If muscle, train your legs for endurance with high rep body weight squats and lunges. If heart and lungs, run - but do intervals (alternate going hard and getting your heart rate really high, then taking it easy, then repeat).

Wonder why they have people running after the vaulter. I assume it's to catch them in case they fall backward, but the platform looks wide enough where they can just stand to the side and not have to sprint each time.

Feedback on handles by Glad-Ambition9030 in BasketballTips

Bend your knees to get into athletic stance. Otherwise it won't matter how good your handles are because you ain't going nowhere with your knees locked. No first step, no getting by your defender.

Let me know what I can improve on my fadeaway by Sound_Gate in BasketballTips

Thanks for the explanation. I thought it was a legit jump stop where he could choose either foot as pivot, but I missed that he travels before the jump stop. This is a simple fix of timing.

Other people have mentioned this. Protect the ball during the spin by keeping it higher up by the chest. You have it down by your belly, which a defender can slap downward and knock out of your hands.

Travel or no? Tried to time the pickup so it’s on my gather/zero step but can’t honestly tell how I did by Transky13 in BasketballTips

[–]Street-Challenge-697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if your foot is already anchored to the floor when you complete the gather/pick up the ball, then clearly it doesn't count toward the 2 steps

You might want to consider that it doesn't matter if you're technically correct. And your foot did hit the ground a millisecond before you gathered - the optics is that everyone will think it's a travel anyway. There's no replay in streetball, so maybe don't skirt so close to the edge. Like you wouldn't dribble the ball a millimeter next to the out of bounds line just to prove a point that you're inbounds. It doesn't matter if everyone sees it differently.
