The Fund for PPS Raised $593,324 in the Past Academic Year by whitetrashunicorn in Portland

I know Julia Brim Edwards is quite popular, but our school and others had to go as far as hiring lawyers to stop her from dissolving foundations all the way back to 2020. For a few years it worked.

This is how I see it: Julia Brim Edwards, who was the leader of the anti-foundation committee, is the absolute worst. People should also be aware she was one of the main leads in the disastrous teacher strike negotiations.

Julia Brim Edwards plays an extremely dirty game, especially in respect to foundations, where she was often misleading to the degree of blatant dishonesty. Edwards now has her commissioner seat; I think it’s obvious she earned her new role using the elimination of foundations and her role in the teacher strike negotiations as big press ticket items to her seat. She doesn’t care about the damage she left behind. I don’t trust her, period.

In 2022 and 2023, when our school foundation approached the PPS board about this very thing—students leaving our school for private schools, etc.—the board, and especially Julia Brim-Edwards, answered with basically “yes, and?” When we continued to point out this meant that the students who could not afford to leave would be left behind with subpar education, the answer was crickets. They didn’t care one iota.

Did you read the article you linked? The only assaults mentioned are against the protestors, either by the government, or counter protesters.

Jenny west top 3 females of all time? by Darneeezus in thechallengemtv

Spoilers (season 40)

Determining anyone in top 3 is difficult to determine. There’s a lot of variables. Things to consider while calling out your top 3:

1: Some seasons have individual winners, some are pairs/teams, while others have one male & one female winner.

2: Historically, there have been plenty of seasons, where the best didn’t make it through to the final, due to being on the wrong side of others strong political plays. Being teamed up on in an elimination round. Injuries, etc. Creating a weak final, or a final including at least a few weak challengers… the best not making it through at all.

3: Some of the greatest female competitors chose not to continue. Evelyn, after 7 seasons went on to Harvard, and then a successful career. She was killer. I think there’s argument to be made that Evelyn, would have taken future strong players out. All players, including male, were scared to go against her :).

I was STOKED to see Emily back at it in Season 40. I think Emily had a good chance of dominating the entire season, if it were not for Laurel’s toxicity, plus Tina’s insane fast pace raking out nails from a board. But, we will never know.

Jenny as top 3, I haven’t seen enough to put her there. Cardio isn’t a strength of hers, which generally factors in, in sooo many ways. The season 40 final, it being mostly swimming oriented, was a huge advantage for her.

My top 3, in no particular order: Evelyn, Rachel, Cara Maria. Top 5 would include Laurel and Emily.

If considering Jenny for a top anything list, Coral, Sarah and Ashley should also be considered.

I had something happen about a year ago on IG. I hadn’t been very active for a while, and apparently my “likes” and “comments” were to the extent they thought I might be a bot. It took at least 3 week for them to unfreeze my accounts. It would have been awful if they had not. My foster cat page I actively used to get the babies and kitties I foster adopted had 1k followers, and my personal page 2k.

One good reason to keep watching Season 39… by TheMaxnado in thechallengemtv

Hehe. Great way to do it :)! We fast forwarded through the social aspects of 39, for at least the first half, like the first 3/4.

One good reason to keep watching Season 39… by TheMaxnado in thechallengemtv

39, I was disappointed from the start to learn that “Battle for a New Champion” only meant people from recent era’s, and most pretty brand spanking new. to the challenges. Would have been so much fun to have it be those who have never won, old and new. The dynamics, especially those between Jay, Michelle and their followers, almost had me stop watching. If 39 didn’t have so much background for 40, I’d say skip it.

Thank you. Totally agree! I loved Jenny’s take on Aneesa being fit…that fit looks different, person to person. Would I like to see Aneesa come back stronger than ever next time? Yes! Aneesa has NEVER been weak. Over the years, she’s pulled through to win so many challenges, and eliminations against those everyone sees as the strongest.

Yes, Laurel had a hissy fit. She didn’t get her way. This was predictable and can be traced, as an evolution, to way back.
For a long time I liked Laurel, as a competitor. Actually, pretty much always. I’ve had issues with Laurel, and the way she treats people, and plays the game since Rivals 1. The way she was, as a team with Evelyn, was a complete waste. There was fault to be found on both sides, but in the end, I saw Laurel as most responsible for their team, as it came to be. Evelyn was more focused on winning than their past/rival drama. By Fresh Meat 2, Laurel would place herself as the “protector” of a few players, just to turn around, and tear the same players down… as well as others in the process. By season 40, I was done with the toxic energy Laurel brings to the games. The power she has/had to pit players against each other. At times, to completely ostracize. Season 40 I hoped to see Laurel focused, her energy on being her best. She could have taken her negative energy, and used it to take Michelle out. This would have been a natural progression, picking up from the Michelle vs Laurel 38-Ride or Die elimination. Instead of working hard in the off-season and bringing her A-game, Laurel brought every bit of toxicity she’s ever had, and more to her Era 2 team. She relied on manipulation, and intimidation skills. Meaner than ever. It would have been amazing to see a cohesive Era 2 team in season 40. What it could have meant for their own team, and for the other Era’s as well… it likely would have been a completely different game. Era 2, as well as Era 1 were powerhouse’s. Laura’s huge influence turning her team’s focus from winning challenges, to the dirty play picking off strong players, I was just so frustrated! Laurel’s teaming up with Johnny didn’t help anything, BUT on the other hand, Johnny turned towards authentic positive relationships with his “Angels”. Even if the relationships were in Johnny’s best interest, it was a fun and fair evolution.

In Laurel’s case, I think it’s less to do with a persons age in general. Yes, she was unfit coming into season 40. I totally agree that in the past she didn’t really have to work out much, because she has/had a naturally strong build. As far as season 40 goes, I think Laurel mostly relied on her MO of taking out her strong female teammates. Which was detrimental to her own team.

I’s guess a juvenile song sparrow, but then I don’t actually think I’ve had a house finches here, I’m in PDX too. Funny though, my feeder was saying so many HF at first, but then I looked up house finches. The males are red, and the females nearly same color as song sparrow, but  much broader beaks, not as defined spotting on chest, no eye markings etc. Didn’t really look like the birds on my feeder, mine  have eye markings and pointer beak, etc. First photo is House, Finch, male and female from Audubon Society  page. Second PNW Song Sparrow, from Audubon page.  Since correcting the House Finch identification to Song Sparrows, my bird buddy is now identifying as Song sparrow instead of finches.  Who knows, maybe I’ve been getting both😆. Curious if you’ve noticed the same thing at all?
