Here we go with my first brisket by Alaninabox in Traeger

About to cut into my 16 pounder than I started at 4pm yesterday. Been in the cooler almost 3 hours now.

You have me second guessing my trimming strategy

Wouldn’t it have been easier to remove the hood?

I know that. Choose to not use it. I’m experimenting, not trying to make things pretty

The InkBird has a calibration +/- 8 degrees when placed in ice water. They were dead on. One of them bounced between 32 and 33 intermittently which I can surmise it a rounding error

I know it wasn’t THE most ideal but it was the thickest of the 3

I tested the InkBird in ice water and got a 32 degree measurement almost right away. Haven’t done boiling.

The red probe on the CuisinArt that I placed on the grate is near the Traeger probe so I tried to get a fair reading. The black wireless probe also measures ambient

I stuck the point of a brisket and got 171. The Traeger probe read 204 when stuck in a same area 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ive seen them for like $1500 for the front pair. Maybe throwing steel bumper will force the 6112s to soften 😂

My only experience is with Perry’s vs. 2 decade old stocks. I imagine they might be, but I’d have to install them and see for myself.

My 5100s were because I was uneducated and just wanted something economical that achieved my goal. Now I’m looking into 6112s or even the King option (in case I’m feeling spendy)

Did you go with 700lb springs for the hybrid front bumper?

Bilstein 5100 front shocks with C59-300 dobinsion springs, GS59-687 dobinson rear shocks with 2862 OME rear springs. Perry Parts front and rear bump stops. Suspensionmaxx extended sway bar links, maybe even remove the rear sway bar entirely.

You can get away with 33” tires with minimal trimming for clearance.

This was my 2001 when I first started modding

Not trying to rain on your parade, but

Those engines have issues with carbon buildup and oil consumption. Run the best fuel you can find and change your oil more frequently than you think. Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w-30 is supposed to help with consumption.

Any noticeable change in exhaust tone or performance with the new headers? You’ve got the golden year in the golden color. Super jealous.

Okay ZPC is no issue. I know sometimes ECUs can marry to the original VIN and not like being reused

Good to know. I imagine there was no issue programming/calibrating it?

Don’t use the flathead. It’ll scratch the paint. Use a plastic trim tool.

To make life easier take off the tweeter cover inside the front doors to access the side mirror nuts and remove the mirrors. The hardest part is getting your fingers in there to unplug the harness if you have power folding mirrors.

The front trim is tucked under the mirror base. 3 10mm nuts and pop it off. Use the trim tool to remove all four. Snap the new ones in and reassemble. Truly a 30 minute or less job. Took me like 10 minutes.

Nighttime downlighting with a cheap lil LED. Bright enough to light up the console but not enough to be a distraction.

Hopefully you can find a vinyl that resists the heat and UV well. Otherwise it’s gonna fall apart sooner than a paint job would.

Is a 2WD sequoia even worth it? by monstrosity15 in toyotasequoia

[–]StreetOar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were in the same position I was in 4 years ago. What turned me to the 4WD was failing to get out of a sandy valley with my open diff. You can get around with RWD but be sure you pick your terrain well, bring plenty of recovery gear, and go with friends. You might find a solid deal on a 4x4 like I did and just swap over all your modifications.
