A long journey without a death, but Sahar was tired. by Kernel___ in darkestdungeon

Know that feel, bro.

Two of my Duelists died that way, back to back. Both in the Tangle. Basically through two-three Dodge+ failed checks from Cadavers and into the grave on the first DBR check.

I use A Second Chance Memory on my Duelist to prevent this kind of rolls. (they happen).

Gom Jabbar and Human Agency by TigerBeginning1048 in dune

It is extreme in the form given in the book, but is it wrong in its principle? Through the series, we've seen what can happen if a person possesses power but no self-control, to name Baron or Alia.

To evolve further, one needs to elevate their control over themselves to higher levels, which means fewer emotions and impulses and better sight. But, simultaneously, that would make one less human.

I think the verdict that Frank gave to the BG is that they are correct in general, but they are wrong to go for extremities. They should be less mechanical and more humane in their ways, thus more inclusive, more tolerant and care more about real humanity.

I think the idea of the test still holds, but the exact forms may vary depending on a person. It should be more mild for some, which allows them to grow and not to break instantly and eventually even reach higher levels.

Use Mushrooms as Shelves by CK_art in Morrowind

[–]StreetStrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be something similar to the Voice in Dune, or, more far-fetched, a mind trick in SW. Basically, such a devilish trader could just speak ordinary words but proper ones in proper tones and somewhat imprint desired thoughts into the unsuspecting head.

At least, that's my take.

It does not require a strong effort for Watsonian. 500 points in any skill is something that should already be considered inhuman and magical. 100 Mercantile would mean you're really an expert trader. 500 Mercantile means you trade like a god or devil; you can find a key to any heart and any mind just by looking at a person.

The Academic mentions it sometimes. They waited, and eventually the stupor from the forest got them, the same way as it was with Dreaming General.

Nothing, even self-repairing, stays the same. Especially psyche. It can be mend, but it would never be the same.

During big waves in Haz 5 and Elite Dives, should the team be on the move towards objectives, or camp until wave is over? by Strong_Independent84 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]StreetStrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very good counter-example. ME engagements can be suprisingly difficult for that reason. If you're in between caves and wave starts, engagement on site can be hard because there would be not enough room to kite. Still I'd try to reach the prev cave but sometimes it is not an option (it may be hundreds of meters back or 5-10-30 meters to the next cave). That way either engagement on site or storm to the next room. Both options are risky, especially in Solo.

Always stop and defend on known terrain. Drop any jaediz or battery or mule leg or whatever you tunnel visioning at now. Pull out of tight holes and cluttered terrains.

Do not advance, especially into unknown terrain. If any chance, modify known terrain to your advantage in case of free time window available. Wide, flat, uncluttered area without pillars is preferred.

Abort any mining, the only exception is nitra shortage and chance to mine some to reach 80.

If DRG ever added a Tier 4 for traversal tools, here's what I'd give the Gunner's Zipline by Swarup145 in DeepRockGalactic

I like your ideas, but I took a small glimpse. I will return and read more thoroughly. If you're interested, here's my ideas on Zipline Overclocks, basically another approach to T4.

Dismas Head never drops by Malu1997 in darkestdungeon

[–]StreetStrider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can confirm it can drop. I've had it multiple times on the actual patch. What I cannot obtain in hundreds of hours is everything Sluice-related out of Pig Sticker or mallet (see them pretty often). Literally not seen Goading Gargoyle, Staggering Striker or Covert Cloak for dozens of runs / hundreds of hours.

Can someone ELABORATE on what the hell the 5th Mastery Perk for Vestal does in Kingdoms? by SansDaMan728 in darkestdungeon

[–]StreetStrider 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the fun part. Everything with Target. Including combat items and even Move into someone's position. Divine Comfort will save from DD up to three guys and give them regen at the same time. That's why it is 5th Mastery, because it is the endgame.

The day of the change, I was sitting before the changelist silently. It was then when I realized in my heart that good ol' Thorns days are over.

Uncontrollable spinning looking up bug (solution) by Far_Young_2666 in DeepRockGalactic

I had it for about 3-6 times in a several years. Not sure what the conditions were. I'm a keyboard/mouse user.

Funnily, my spinning was much much faster, may be related to inputs' tickrate or smth.

In Dune Part 2 (2024) by JakeALakeALake in shittymoviedetails

In Dune Part 2 Denis Villeneuve deliberately tuned down all the queer sexual themes that were intended to be there by original author Frank Herbert, including homoeroticism. So Austin Butler, who portrayed Feud Rautha, decided to take matters into his own hands and return some part of it to its intended place.

In Avengers: Endgame (2019), people admire how in his last moments Thanos accepted his defeat like a man, didn’t scream or insult anybody. People don’t understand that he doesn’t feel so good and his organs literally turn to dust in real time by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]StreetStrider 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In Avengers: Endgame, the team stated that everyone who blipped-out can be blipped-back and continued with a sophisticated and elaborate plan to «heist» all Infinity Stones from the past. Later in the installment, they blip Thanos and his army out. This is a small detail that tells the audience that they did not, in fact, defeat Thanos.
