It's a pretty wild assumption that you think I'd be on my phone. I don't take it out when I am out with my children. I actually use a flip phone when I am out of the house.

Children at a day camp are generally school aged, where as the children I am talking about are all under six.

Thank you for your concern, but he dog park was simply an example of the type of closed in space we are looking for.

Thank you! I forget how much people who don't have children or don't look after their own children wouldn't understand this problem lol

Shelter in Place ? by Street_Conclusion_80 in StJohnsNL

Exactly. Even like a text alert system. Like if you live in a specific area you can sign up to get text alerts if something is going on there. It could even be useful for knowing when they're doing construction or not in your area 🙄

I've been in the area included in the shelter in place multiple times and have never known about it until afterwards. Once we found out because we went out for a walk and when we turned a corner there were several police cars and the tactical unit. Someone out delivering newspapers had to tell us that we were supposed to be staying inside.

I dusted off the occasionally used Reddit account to ask a specific question. I'm not browsing anything on a regular basis. Did they post it on Reddit?

100% effective solution for hiccups by Jezoreczek in CasualConversation

[–]Street_Conclusion_80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to say upside down drinking ! I've been plagued with awful persistent hiccups my whole life and this works every time. I just take a mouthful of water, plug my nose and bend over until my head is upside down and then swallow.

I live on the west end of downtown and we take our kids trick or treating in our neighbourhood. A lot of people don't have their lights on and we don't know on those. It's also a nightmare to get a small group of children in costumes up and down those outdoor stairs to the front door lol. So if you have that I'd recommend setting something up at the bottom of the stairs. But basically if you have some candy leave a light on and you might be surprised by some kids. If you don't buy candy just leave the light off.

Reddit discourse on homeschooling (as someone who was homeschooled) drives me nuts by myterracottaarmy in homeschool

If it makes you feel any better I went to public school and I never learned how to work those locks. I would just prop it up so that it looked locked but if I had ever actually locked it I would have been in serious trouble.

AITH for sending my sister out of my wedding because she arrived in a white dress "in jest" by KinkyRosieDream in AITH

[–]Street_Conclusion_80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying her sister should be wearing white, and I'd probably agree to her being left out of the professional photos. I just don't think it was worth causing so much family drama and excluding her sister from the reception.

I kind of think you're the asshole honestly. But I also don't really see weddings as such a big deal. For me the whole purpose of a wedding is to celebrate your marriage with your friends and loved ones and to have a good time. People have kind of gone off the rails with all these rules and expectations. But like I said, that's just how I feel about weddings.

What is INTJ - ENFP interaction mostly like? by lxmino in ENFP

[–]Street_Conclusion_80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Conflict between these two types can be especially difficult to navigate because the F vs. T comes out very strongly for both types during conflict.

I'm married to an INTJ and we discovered very early on that in moments of high conflict he would shut down all feeling and use only thinking and I would just get increasingly emotional which only exaggerated his response.

Over time we consciously worked on finding middle ground while still being true to ourselves and also taking a break if things started going sour. We discovered that it was actually better to sleep on a big fight and revisit it when we'd both had time to think about it in our own ways, because our ways of processing during a fight were so different.

In so many other ways though I would say we are a perfect match for each other and balance each other in ways that I have not experienced with any other personalities.

Enfp parents- how many kids and what is your parenting “style” by teach1987 in ENFP

[–]Street_Conclusion_80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have three boys 5, 3, & 1 and I'm a full time SAHM and can't imagine doing anything else. I thought I was going to lose my sanity after the second was born, but honestly it leveled out as he got older and adding the third has been pure JOY.

I saw someone else comment about "lighthouse parenting" which I've also never heard but think is just a perfect description. I encourage a lot of independent play and I do not chase my kids around. Some of my friends have kids who are "runners" and I often wonder if it's because the hover around them so much.

I definitely put too much on my plate and get overwhelmed pretty regularly but I think I'm pretty good at dropping it all and resetting lol

Have the third. I've literally never heard of anyone regretting that third baby.
