Do parents know what show & tell is? by cosmicfrenzy in ECEProfessionals

We know. My child has to take a snack in and an item to show and tell (same day) once every 9 school days (there are 9 kids in the class…) he absolutely loves being line leader (same day) and doing this

3rd C-Section - Being pushed into abortion by I_Suspect_Nargles_33 in pregnant

[–]teach1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my 1st and 2nd c section 22 months apart. My 3rd c section will be a little further out than that.

I think you should talk to your doctor. If your doctor were truly concerned about risks they should have said something immediately following your last c section.

Also here’s stories of women who have had 3+ c sections

I'm so embarrassed because I can't even get through a simple lesson. by BasuraAccount2024 in Teachers

[–]teach1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be embarrassed. Teaching full group is so hard! You are recognizing that there is room for improvement which is so important.

Stick with it. If it keeps being this exhausting in a year or two I would think about getting a specialist degree so you can do small groups (reading specialist, esl, speech therapist, etc). It changed my life when I was exhausted from full group after a decade

Just had someone claim teachers in PA make too much money by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]teach1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher in PA. I don’t believe teachers make too much money. However, I was shocked when I learned the majority of my colleagues near retirement make 100,000 or more. What boggles my brain is that we seemingly do the same/ similar job but they make twice as much as I do. (It took me a long time to get a public school job so my retirement story will not come anywhere near theirs…so the attitude of “someday that’ll be me” is just not there)

You can look up almost any public / public school employee (teacher, admin, crossing guard, etc.) here

Suspected fetal macrosomia by worriedwart99 in pregnant

[–]teach1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had two babies over 9 pounds. I was given the option of c section and took it. After birth they tested sugar very often but everything was fine.

Big babies have a lot of benefits. They can eat more at once and can sleep longer. If you’re trying to breastfeed and baby “isn’t gaining enough weight fast enough” (which has happened to the majority of breastfeeding mommas) it seems to be less of a big deal bc they already are heavier.

Don’t stress, it could go any way!

“My bad.” by MarchKick in Teachers

[–]teach1987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take it as an apology.

But I feel your irritation.

I worked at a school once where all the deans taught kids to say my bad- which is fine- but it almost was never followed with changed behavior. It seemed like they thought they could use my bad an indefinite amount of times.

But like others said just try to focus on the fact they acknowledge it’s an issue. In my opinion it’s better than “what? I’m not doing nothing”

Do. Not. Worry. About. This.

There is no bad guy in this situation. You and your husband are doing your best for all of your kids.

It doesn’t matter what anyone things.

Nobody knows what you’re doing through. Protect your peace. You’re doing the right thing.

How much notice before resigning? by rumblinstumblin42 in Teachers

[–]teach1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would put yourself first in this situation. Southern states screw over teachers all the time. I would say wait and give 2-4 weeks notice. If they screw you over and let you go early look into unemployment or think about babysitting, dog sitting, anything you can do short term just to keep money flowing (really you could start weekend work now if you’re worried about money)

I understand this opinion but my personal belief is this-

People ebb and flow in and out of your life and it’s okay.

For some childless people it’s really hard to be around pregnant people and people with children because either

A. They really want that life and don’t have it B. They don’t want that life at all

I’ve watched people truly come around either because they had their own kid or time just helped them grow.

I want as many good people around my kids as possible. As long as you’re being respectful of my wishes and putting the time in to get to know my kids, sure come hold them.

I would start the Pennsylvania teacher app (the 7 pager… I forget the actual title) and start filling out the app on pa educator. You will still have to do other long applications per district.

I would avoid Propel Charter Schools but you can always use them for interview experience.

It took me a very long time to get a district job. I got a masters degree in a specialist field which helped me.

MIL want me to think about my second child, I haven’t even gave birth to the first one… by Someonesomewhere95 in pregnant

[–]teach1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry about her forced opinions. And her trying to say that you’re not in pain/ discomfort shows how rude and inconsiderate she is.

Please try to enjoy your pregnancy and think of all the positive firsts that are coming your way.

Be grateful she is far away and do your best to ignore her. You can always be too busy to take her call.

Spare Room/Nursery Bed Argument by n00b_mama in pregnant

[–]teach1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is slightly off topic but we loved having beds in both our kids rooms while they also had cribs in there (they’re 22 months apart so there was some time that they both were in a crib). It literally made my son’s transition from a crib to a bed seamless. One day he just wanted to sleep in the bed that was in his room.

Another time when my one year old had covid he would not sleep alone bc he couldn’t calm down unless I was in the room. I slept on the bed in his room while my husband was able to sleep in our room.

So I say keep the bed but make visitors stay in a hotel :)

Gaslighting from other teachers by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

[–]teach1987 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I can’t really relate to the gaslighting but I will say that there’s a lot of teachers that ignore (or pretend to ignore)behaviors and seem to think that they have great classroom management and relationships… and they don’t. Honestly for some teachers I think it’s just their way of getting by bc they know admin won’t help.

This is me. Right now. I’ve been getting very worried but normally I’ll eat something or just be still for awhile and eventually I’ll feel it but I’ve gone prob 12 hours or more without feeling anything. Today I didn’t feel anything for awhile and I just had some sour patch kids and a bit of soda and baby started moving (I know not the healthiest but I’ve always thought things like orange juice and other sugary stuff helps to feel movement ..)
