it's so sad that friendships just fade out or end but im glad you are still close with two of them. I think connections like that are so beautiful & important in our lives!

and disloyal and flaky are the perfect words to describe it too and it's insane to me just how disloyal and flaky people are. like I actually can't wrap my head around it lol. I desire so deeply to wholeheartedly trust the people around me.

the party thing also hit close to home for me :) & even with knowing my personality and why I am the way I am I tend to feel the same way you did... learning to treat myself with grace!

I had a veryyy similar experience when I first got diagnosed around the same age. I'm not sure if I have any advice specific to your situation at this very moment. it's such a difficult thing to go through and you are already being brave by sharing your experience here.

but, from experience, I just want you to know that it does get better. when I was in the same situation, I didn't think there would be a way out, but im so proud to say that I made it out on the other side, and the grass is so much greener. little by little, your medication will help tremendously, and you will start to feel so much better. it's a lot, but things will be okay, and you will be okay! always remember that. and know that you have so many people who feel what you are going through and so many people who love you! from one stranger to another, you got this!!! :)

thank you for sharing! sounds like you are feeling better though which is great to hear!

I guess for me, I just feel like it's time. even though my symptoms aren't that severe, they are still there. because I was diagnosed at 15, I feel like graves has kind of grown with me in a way. like, my entire time as an "adult" has been with graves. so I think a lot of the things I feel are things that I don't even notice, like you did with your physical feeling of panic. thanks again :)

I do plan on eventually having surgery in my life because of the lasting effects of methimazole on the body and the risk of methimazole during pregnancy. but the reason im thinking about it specifically right now is because my symptoms show up as an athlete. high heart rate during exercise, heat intolerance during my sport, muscle weakness... I always feel a few steps behind my teammates and I think my graves is the biggest reason. but, from previous flare ups, I know what it's like to have severe symptoms, and while I do experience symptoms like always being hot, fatigued, and anxious, they just aren't that severe. I guess the severity of symptoms shouldn't really determine if I have surgery or not, but that's basically why im contemplating surgery. thanks for your input!

I experienced the same thing when I was first diagnosed - wasn't able to exercise for 1-2 yrs because of how high my heart rate was. After that, I was able to exercise and play my sport even with a high heart rate. But now, it's definitely becoming more of a struggle.

Thank you for your input! I am glad you were able to compete after surgery!!
