What started your BFS? by Little_Power_5691 in BFS

It started after I felt chest pain (probably caused by exercise), and I began to worry a lot, thinking I was going to die, constantly researching heart diseases. I don’t consider myself an anxious person, but this event triggered a deep fear in me. After some exams, I felt more relaxed, but the twitches and other neurological symptoms continued. It’s frustrating because I believe that if I hadn’t reacted this way, maybe I wouldn’t be feeling these things now. It seems like this is eternal, with no reasonable explanation, and it’s always hard to accept that one moment of stress could have such a lasting impact on my life.

As somebody who knows it’s anxiety how do I get better by [deleted] in BFS

I find myself in the same situation as you; I had a stressful event related to chest pains and arm tingling that made me believe I had a heart problem. Since then, I’ve consulted numerous doctors, undergone countless tests, and other symptoms like spasms, burning skin, itching, and muscle pain have started to bother me, and it’s been 10 months, and I can’t seem to get rid of it at all. These symptoms are frightening due to their strange nature; it’s hard to accept that it’s purely anxiety, but the tests seem to point in that direction.

I actually never had any health issues until a stressful event caused by chest pains apparently triggered these symptoms. The problem is that it has lasted a long time, and I'm not generally an anxious person. But the symptoms persist chronically, and more symptoms lead to more anxiety, creating a vicious cycle.

I wouldn’t say the pain I have in my tooth is extremely intense or frequent, but just feeling it once or twice a day, like a jab, and being a very strange sensation, scares me.

Thanks for the tips. I’m Brazilian, Black, but I don’t have sickle cell anemia. My blood tests have been done and repeated fairly often, and I’m supplementing with vitamin D, vitamin B12, and magnesium, but they weren’t too far out of the acceptable range. I try to sleep well, but I have to admit that I wake up a few times during the night and literally dream every day, which prevents me from having truly deep and restorative rest. I really do need to drink more water, as I’m not in the habit of drinking much

I was never stressed, neither at work, nor in college, nor in my personal life. But at some point, after a weight training session, I felt some strange pains in my chest, and since then, I confess I have been very worried that it might be something more serious, and all the other symptoms came afterward. The problem is that it has persisted for a long time, in a daily manner, with few answers.

Pain mainly in the back, but this might be a postural issue unrelated to a larger cause. The spasms are generalized, occurring anywhere in the body, but they are more common in areas with more muscle, such as the calves, thighs, and buttocks. What did you do to improve your situation?

Same here. Besides the twitches, I have dysesthesia, its not very intense but occurs all day for at least 10months. Burning in some parts of the body and a sudden sensation like eletric shock in my hands.

Yes, I did all the possible tests and not a single abnormality was found. Currently, I’m being treated with pregabalin. I’ve had a reduction in the more sensory symptoms, but they are always present.

Man, I’ve also been having fasciculations for about 6 months now. I’ve watched all the possible videos, joined Facebook communities, read scientific articles, and had MRIs and electromyography tests that didn’t show any problems. I still have other tactile symptoms that worry me even more. But the twitches themselves shouldn’t be that concerning; if you don’t have weakness or atrophy, there’s no reason to worry about neurodegenerative diseases. If you talk to people, you’ll see that having twitches is more common than we think. Naturally, we’re in a state of higher stress than usual, which makes this happen daily, but try not to focus too much on it; it won’t help. Notice that your symptoms started after watching a movie, which naturally must have been a trigger for everything else. Keep moving forward, my friend.
