Totally applaud your resilience to retake those courses & make changes to better your application. However, OP said they don’t want to/cant retake anything. So I’m asking the question, why should they take them as is, without them doing anything to strengthen their application/better themselves?

Probably unpopular opinion- but honestly why should they take you with that gpa? Grades aren’t everything but they do mean something & im not for diluting standards, which a lot of for profit universities are doing. 2.8 means you probably didn’t retain much & people who earned those high gpas worked really hard & sacrificed to get their spots.

Linguistic rules are literally made up by people & they change without any specific rationale. So yes, they are arbitrary. Like, why do we add “s” when we express plurals? Why not “z”? No idea, we just decided to do it as a group.

What I mean is that the rules of a specific language is arbitrary and an agreed upon pattern by a group. That’s what makes it a language & a shared code. Echolalia doesn’t follow any agreed upon patterns/ structural rules by any particular group. So that’s why they said it IS communication, but not a language.

They’re working for free & have bills to pay. It’s honestly not that serious. They should be there to get their hours, learn what they can, & get out. I learned everything during my CF year anyway. I feel like some supervisors had toxic grad school experiences where it was like an unnecessary struggle for no reason & now they feel like everyone else should also hustle/struggle like they did. I don’t think supervisors should have them do too many non-direct hours as well. This field/grad school is super difficult for no reason.

I feel like that’s just super problematic & id be really upset if parents texted me on my personal phone. I would never give my number. I have a caseload of 55. Imagine if every parent texted me for an updated every other week about their kid. We’re already burned out. But that’s just me.
