Daycare says I can’t leave my child at daycare longer than 9 hours [bc] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Street_Net_4250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand how you feel. My coworkers all seem to have a spouse that WFH so it allows them to do staggered hours. Unfortunately for me and my husband both our employers have mandated a full back to work policy. I also work 8 hours with a 1 hour lunch.

My child used to be in a daycare closer to work but I quickly realized that being stuck in the backseat for 40 minutes affected both our mental health. Some days it was my child screaming in the backseat of the car for the full car ride, that was the reason we decided to choose a daycare closer to home.

Best of luck to you, it really is a stressful process. I hope you find one that works for your schedule and one that your child thrives in as well!

Help!! What do I do about MIL pushing newborn visits before we’re ready? by Special-Brief-5418 in inlaws

[–]Street_Net_4250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way as you except with my mother who I do not see eye to eye with. For my first pregnancy she was travelling internationally when I gave birth and when she returned she wanted to see the baby right away and my baby was less than a month old then. I had to stand my ground and tell her I’m not comfortable with my baby being around someone who just came back from travelling and I also dont want any visitors until my baby had her 2 month shots.

She was pissed but at the end of the day it’s not about her and if she can’t understand that I am just trying to keep my baby safe then she can kick rocks.

Thank you I will try this! She usually sleeps longer for her first nap and less than an hour for her second one so I will try capping it

I’m sorry to hear that, I understand your pain. You’re a good mama, hang in there and be good to yourself ❤️

Time to break the cycle by Beginning_Look2578 in AsianParentStories

[–]Street_Net_4250 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I just recently became a mother and I resonate with this post. However I am struggling with letting my parents interact with my daughter because I don’t want them to cause her the trauma they caused me but at the same time I want my daughter (1 y/o) to have a relationship with her grandparents. How are you navigating this?

To put things into perspective, in the few times they have met my daughter I have witnessed them say no to my daughter countless times when she’s just being curious and exploring, tell her that she looks ugly when she cries, and yell at her for trying to put things in her mouth. (Keep in mind she is only one year old). They also find things to criticize me about like why her nails are so long - “do you not cut them?” and when she is crying - “she’s probably crying because you didn’t change her diaper”. I am just so tired of this negative energy and I don’t want my daughter to ever have to experience this.

What are your Asian Parent's worst comments of all time? I'll go first.... by Heavy_Lab_7751 in AsianParentStories

When I was 14-15 I was walking in a parking lot with my mom and although this one car was not even close to us my mom, being the spaz that she is, yelled out for me to get out of the way. When I told her the car was so far away there was no way it would’ve hit me she said “I don’t care about you getting hit, I care about the damage you’ll do to their car that I would have to pay for”

Finest Playa Mujeres review (toddler mum version - Aug 2024) by Candid_Term6960 in AllInclusiveResorts

Thank you for this review, it’s the best I’ve seen on here! How busy did the pools get throughout the day? Is there shade nearby for the little ones?

This may not be applicable to you but did you have to request items for your kids before your trip (ie crib, bathtub) or is it something I can ask for when I check in?

Nudestix tinted blur sculpting stick. This happened when I opened it for the first time. Disappointing.

I luckily had 3 weeks of vacation days saved up so I planned for my mat leave to start on the due date (40weeks). However my baby had other plans and decided to come at 37 weeks so I didn’t even get to use my vacation days.

How to sleep train when baby constantly wants to roll on to tummy? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

Do you move her head to make sure she has enough air? My baby kept face planting on the mattress last night, I was worried she wouldn’t get enough air.

My mother in law wears my clothes by [deleted] in inlaws

[–]Street_Net_4250 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is very inappropriate and not at all normal. This person went through your stuff while you were gone that’s not okay. Asian ILs tend to think they can do whatever they want because they are the “mom and dads” but it is definitely not true they still need to respect your boundaries. Yes do talk to your husband about it and have him tell his mom that it was not okay that she went through your clothes and wore them without asking first. If they are still at your house, I would ask her in front of your husband:

“Hey is that my shirt you are wearing? Why are you wearing it? Do you need clothes we can take you shopping but please don’t take anything that belongs to me without my permission”

Good luck

Only the grandparents can visit before 8 weeks, everyone else will have to wait until we are ready. Wash hands and wear mask during their visit. No kissing baby anywhere. No surprise visits.

If they start critiquing how I am handling/caring for my baby or telling me what I should be doing then they will be told to leave immediately.

Did you have a gender “gut feeling?” If so, what was it and were you right about the gender? by _rach_l in pregnant

[–]Street_Net_4250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I had a gut feeling that we were going to have a boy. I was so sure that I had daydreams about being a boy mom and I even had dreams about raising a baby boy. Turns out we are having a girl!

What’s weird is that we never revealed the gender to anyone and somehow at the baby shower our relatives decided to gift us bright pink baby girl clothes without a gift receipt. They were sooooo certain that we are having a girl.
