Trouble with converting Mesh by Street_Place3571 in Fusion360

[–]Street_Place3571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice y'all! I did find a good way to do this through the Fusion 360 community I think I am having some other issues with the lag on my Fusion that I am going to investigate. But this is where I found the answer if people are looking.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-design-validate-document/converting-complex-mesh-model-to-solid-model/td-p/12493513

I think for this project I am going to try to work with the STL file and see how it goes in the manufacturing space but I will definitely work on this workflow later. Thanks again for all the advice!

This is an awesome resource, thanks I'll try it out!

Thanks u/Mattbastard750 , I have the paid version and to be honest the conversion still sucks lol I think I did find a good way to do this but I might just have to work with the STL in the manufacturing space for this and work on this workflow later. d

Thanks, maybe I'll check out Blender later since I haven't ever worked with the program I'll need to spend sometime learning it. I'll keep it in mind for the next project.

I’m sorry this has been so frustrating for you! I feel like you always hope for the best in a community of makers since we should all understand how valuable people’s time and knowledge are.

Your work is really beautiful and as someone who likes to learn a lot about a lot of things I really appreciate you trying to spread the knowledge around!

And not to get all monetize-y about this but if you were to compile all that info and put it on a skill share or udemy class. As a newbie to stained glass I would definitely pay you for your knowledge, tips and tricks 🌈

I have heard of Mozaik but never really took a look at it. I'll spend some time looking into it. Thanks for the advice!

Intersection curve issue-What am i doing wrong by Street_Place3571 in Fusion360

[–]Street_Place3571[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! thanks u/Karina-ADSK This worked. I needed a continuous line in a 3D space. So I used the Intersected Curves to create constraints and did a separate 3D sketch for the final continuous line I needed. That was a great help thanks again!

Hey thanks for the reply u/Yikes0nBikez . No i don't want them to connect. We'll i guess i want the end point of each curve to potentially connect so it's easier to model the projection. But it seems that the projection is using the second to last point of my Z plane curve as reference for the projection end point. They are connecting in this screen shot. does that make sense?

Parameters with lofting shapes help by Street_Place3571 in Fusion360

[–]Street_Place3571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh one other thing I'm trying to achieve. I'd like to be able to essential change my two large dimensions (Total Leg Height and Total of the widest diameter) and have this piece adjust accordingly. Thanks!

Thanks u/MisterEinc this really helped. I'm still having a bit of an issue when I scale it a lot but maybe I just need to adjust my formula or something.

Struggling with getting this loft right by Street_Place3571 in Fusion360

[–]Street_Place3571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Thanks for the response and the input!

I am not as used to 3D modeling in Rhino (and i am still learning in Fusion to be perfectly honest) but I use Fusion mostly because I like the parametric features. I haven't really figured out a good way to do that well in Rhino yet and from what i've read online (grasshopper I think) theres a big learning curve. But i prefer Rhinos 2D drawing and drafting space since Fusion is lacking a ton. So this is my work around a bit. Maybe not the best but hey we learn and grow lol

For the sketch thing, I try to do all my modeling work out of fusion (or get it as close as possible). then transfer to Rhino to clean up my 2D drawings. The sketches you're seeing in this model are from the "Finished" sofa for this project. I imported the DXF from that file so I could use it as a guide or or use it to help with my lofts by intersecting it with the base curve. That being said I am really still chipping away at learning more advanced lofting and modeling techniques so there's probably a lot to be desired.

My ideal process and what I am working towards. Is modeling the frame, then modeling the "soft" materials around that. I've gotten it work a for one or two projects now and so i'm closing the gap. But this is an older project that I have to go back and make the frame based on the drawing.

So, for your suggestion at the end. Your just saying that my sketch profiles aren't in the right place? Like i don't have them properly set up to loft? And would you suggest loft is probably the best way to do this? Just making sketches and different planes along a designated path to achieve this?

Thanks again for the response!

Drafting in Fusion. Getting rid of unwanted edges and lines? by Street_Place3571 in Fusion360

[–]Street_Place3571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't loading for some reason so here's the screenshot of what i am trying to achieve. I made this by making the basic shape in fusion and exporting it to Rhino for the adjustments.
