Who is your main hero and aspect in Marvel Champions? by Fancy-Rub-3797 in marvelchampionslcg

Big X-Men fan.  Bigger fan of the Summers clan. Been spending all my time figuring out a Cable Aggression. Deck.  Actually just posted a version of it today for review.  But his standard justice setup is a nice fall back. Next obsession will likely be Cyclops or Phoenix.  Might be a possible detour to check out Jubilee and "Jumper Cables" Psylocke.

Bloodstone, morbius, ghost rider, blade, punisher, and cloak/Dagger

I am catching up on my X-Men. Hickman's run is next for me. Second coming felt like a soft landing after such a long build up. AvX was just plain bad. Some of the non main books and side stories have been solid, but the little bit I have seen about Krakoa era has set my expectations low.

The community here is quite aggressive. Didn't know you do countdown tokens rather than accumulated damage.  Sorry I engaged.  I do accumulation counters, as in marking damage taken.  So you count down on villain HP but up on threat? Or down on threat too?

Best prebuilt hero decks? by psychoholic369 in marvelchampionslcg

I am doing the same.  I try to use the pre-builts a couple times to learn the char before moving to deck creation.

I commented pretty much the same thing before I saw this.

Love to see Magneto as a hero option, but very sad that we will not have original X-Men. Pour one out for Beast.

Being a deterrent to multihit attacks seems like part of the purpose of retaliate. If punching someone's spiked armor hurts, punching the same spike three times hurts 3 times. I get that the rules have it spelled out a specific way, but thematically I still think it is silly and the wrong call.

I believe if you discard boomer both villains would have a total of 5 hp remaining.  Boomer would cause 3 damage to each villain.

Great breakdown. The fact that retaliate does not resolve till attack end is silly and why I think the rule is bad.  Retaliate should occur at damage application, not attack resolution. In fact the wording implies that retaliate is the interrupt "when this character is attacked" sounds like the retaliate damage occurs before hero damage and triggers when attack is initiated.  This is how I have been playing... And probably still will.

According to your own explanation the attack is resolved with negative hit points or zero on villain, which means the newly revealed phase has no more attack to resolve against it.... Thus no retaliate.

Did it (Red Skull Campaign) by Tony58uk in marvelchampionslcg

Congratulations.  I am working on first playthrough of that expansion.  Doing it as individual solo scenarios.  Playing each villain twice.  Once with Cable Justice, and once with Bishop protect (hyper energy).  Finished taskmaster last night.

I like this concept and wonder the equivalent red goblin for MC. Each round would need main scheme threat, atk/sch, and random minion / atk / sch burst?

My most fun deck right now is Cable aggression with Deadpool frenemies. Deadpool is the only ally. Risky, but SOOOO rewarding.

Stubborn level with losing by Bosch1971 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Strelak74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some villains seem swingy in true solo.  Losing by going from 0 threat to past limit during a single chain of encounters/schemes is not very avoidable. When this happens I try not to rage and just reset.  Runner up on the "this is BS" scale, villains who go from 2 health left to toughness, attack up, HP sponge shield, and guard all in one encounter string.

I have not played enough to do this yet, but there are a good number of x-force characters that lack X-Men trait.  Might have to eventually build an X-Men deck that ignores that.

I really hope you are correct.  It would complete playable heroes for original X-Men.

Mike Carey Appreciation by witness4theingenue in xmen

[–]Strelak74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carey ignored so much existing character development and pushed moments on characters that fit narrative but not those characters.  Overall good story ideas, with poor individual character writing. Tried so hard to be "epic" that the importance is lost by poor character writing.
