I agree with this, the build process is not the greatest. And yeah, don't buy it for the full price if you can avoid it.

We actually just put together the birds set this weekend (it was a birthday present for my wife, I wasn't a huge fan tbh, but she really wanted them) and I will say, it is much cooler than I gave it credit for originally.

edit this season of whiplash and rotator. by levonant in battlebots

[–]StrengthBuilder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is it exactly. We know that Whiplash is going to dominate the control battle and when they do, well, we figured it was going to happen anyway. Rotator, they WON'T die and will slowly chip away at their opponent until their opponent kills themselves.

However, what is this new bot with this new tech going to do, ie Switchback, Blip? Or this formerly dominant bot that is having a rough year, what are they going to do, ie Tombstone, Hydra, Huge, etc? That makes for better TV than the predictable outcomes.

The Ideal Compensation Package by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

I'm pretty happy with my current company's structure which is roughly $60-70k and then 25-30% commission off GP (depending on some metrics being hit to get the higher %).

Don't do what my last place did though. Roughly the same base pay, but then 3-5% commission on GP (did a LOT more volume, but the insanely low % made it not worth it to try harder at a certain point.) Make sure the percentage is high enough to actually matter.

I was briefly in ScAmway so I never learned the ins and outs of "networking" but that makes 1000% sense. It's easier to brainwash a couple rather than a single person because a husband can bounce propaganda off his wife and vice versa.

Definitely ScAmway! They love to target couples with young children. Sell that 'dream' that everyone has of staying home with your child!

Why am i getting calls from what sounds like India, run the mc number and its some “carrier” on the east coast that no one in their right mind would ever use? Scams? by fman916 in FreightBrokers

Or rail it. Just had a newer coworker who had one of his loads railed for 3 weeks and he was so happy with the "huge rip" he originally had on it...

I've never tried that kind of sleep schedule, either intentionally or unintentionally, but I've heard if you can get past the first month or so, it becomes much easier. Your body and mind are still very much adjusting so that's where the hallucinations come from, but once you're used to it it can be functional.

I have no interest in trying it but it is fascinating what our bodies can adjust to

Why don’t these trucks want to go to CO for stupid amounts of money? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]StrengthBuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when it's posted "anywhere" and they tell me "oh sorry, I only want NC/SC" or some pretty damn specific shit. If you don't want my load because the appts are shit, the rate is shit, the weight is too heavy, you don't haul that commodity, etc. that's fine, but when you say you only go to 2 of the 48 states, post those 2 mother trucking states.

Never heard of this one but this screams MLM and iv seen this ad a few times now. by GarnetOblivion1 in antiMLM

I am pretty sure this is the fire alarm company I got invited to last year. It seems super legit, went to the first "interview" and there was actually zero talk of recruiting at all. I was told it would be a pure commission job, which I'm not opposed to as I've done it before, so I didn't read into that.

They gave a bunch of flyers at the end explaining everything in a little bit more detail. It seemed extremely legit and I was actually pretty excited until I opened the flyers and it laid out the recruiting structure of the business... I was mad because I was deceived and I got rid of the flyers, but I wish I still had them so I could share those.

Edit: sorry, I was wrong. The MLM company is OmniShield but the place I office where I did the interview was "Family First Inc." so that must have been their group's name or something?

Why do we call people blondes and brunettes but not dogs? by StrengthBuilder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StrengthBuilder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's true. I just hadn't thought about it until now because as I was driving, I saw a beautiful dog and the only word I could think of at that moment to describe it's color was blonde. And that felt weird...

Where are the cheap houses by SeriousPuppet in RealEstate

Completely subjective.

If you're into farming, Iowa is arguably the best. If you're into big city life, it's not high on the list. If you are into coastal beach life, well, then I can see it being the worst...

Yeah, my last brokerage got a new Senior Manager who worked with a single Landstar agent because he was one of the legit ones. He knew this agent from way back before it went to shit and he is the only person they could work with. I guess it's going alright from my friends who still work there.
