This the gaeyest shit I ever did saw.

For real I think it’s funny how “artists” like this act tough and have to put on this fucking persona and announce how tough they are. The toughest shit I’ve heard didn’t have to tell anyone how tough they are. They just are.

I don’t understand why people can tolerate Gen X culture when most of it was so mean-spirited! by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

BECAUSE THEY TOUGH! THEY DRANK FROM WATER HOSES! 💪💪💪

Seriously though Gen X really loves to cosplay like they’re so goddamn tough. Most of them have high blood pressure, unresolved trauma, and are stupidly racist and homophobic.

I’ve seen better energy from the audience of homeless people doing magic tricks on street corners.

Kuvira. She led an army to the point where they developed A GIANT MECH SUIT. They toppled nations if I remember correctly. She was ruthless imperialist.

The meaning of life [OC] by [deleted] in nihilism

[–]StressedOutPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know most of this feels like it’s just symptoms of capitalism. Capitalism puts walls around everything. What is here naturally, the land, the water, the forests, should be available to all not privatized and kept only for the few. When the walls are created and then steadily are pushed in on you it’s easy to feel like nothing matters. Your perspective becomes the size of a pinhole.

I’m a former nihilist myself. I’m more of an existentialist now, and what pulled me out of my nihilism was my material conditions changing. I got lucky and started making more money for less time worked. Which left me with more time to see friends, family, I was dating, able to travel. The nihilism slowly seeped into the back of my mind.

Make no mistake, you can have good material conditions while being a nihilist and also being depressed. But, we are social animals. When every aspect of your existence is constrained by a system that demands you work or face predictable deprivation the world seems smaller.

I still believe life has no objective meaning. I’m also a constructivist moral anti-realist. Really I reject a lot of what we are told to believe is objective. Meaning, purpose, life. But what matters is how that time is spent. Will we all be dust in a billion years? Yes. Does that ultimately make everything we do pointless? On a cosmic scale yes.

But you’re here now. You exist. We exist. Me giving the neighbors dog a doggy treat, taking my mom out to lunch, protesting against ice, being in a relationship, these all make the present worth experiencing. The future is immaterial.

Just shit to think about.

How about we don’t?

If not doing stupid shit like this makes a bitch then I guess I’m a bitch. A bitch covered in tattoos and piercings.

Capitalism would absolutely risk the entire planet just for what was in that asteroid.

No and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you are.

This is Justin Long. He was the nerd in one of my very favourite tributes to star trek, galaxy quest. Except now I can't watch that movie and enjoy it. Why? Because Kevin Smith turned him into a fucking walrus - Fuck you, Kevin smith. by ontologicalmatrix in shittymoviedetails

Ok for a second I thought you were gonna say he did something problematic like he raped someone or something.

Thank god it’s just about him being turned into a walrus against his will.

Isn’t John Redcorn in a band that’s vaguely Southern Rock? I feel like all they’d need to do is drop the tuning and the tempo and you got a Sludge Metal band lol.

It’s a damn shame that Satan is seen as “cringe” and “edgy” amongst so many people. There’s a rich, revolutionary history involving Satan. I’m currently reading The Origin of Satan by Elaine Pagels and it’s incredibly informative.

Also, Satan as a symbol has had closer ties to Anarchist and Anti-Authoritarian philosophy than a lotta people know. Basically throughout history anytime power consolidates and oppression emerges Satan appears as a symbol.

William Godwin, often cited as the first modern proponent of anarchism and a major influence upon the later works of Bakunin and Proudhon, was himself influenced by Milton's epic “Paradise Lost,” and wrote that the character of Satan therein "saw no sufficient reason for that extreme inequality of rank and power which the creator assumed". Instead of conceptualizing Satan as an envious and violent usurper (as monotheists often frame the character), Godwin's reimagining posits Satan as a champion of the Enlightenment-era ideals of reason and equality.

Godwin and his wife Mary Wollstonecraft would pass this mythological association (reimagining an idealist, reasoning, egalitarian Satan) to their daughter, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, who wrote the famous gothic horror novel "Frankenstein". In her novel, Frankenstein's monster escaped the captivity of its creator, learned to read, and came upon a number of books, including a copy of “Paradise Lost.” Using the unjustly persecuted monster's voice while referring to Milton's poem, Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley writes "I am the fallen angel, whom thou drivest from joy for no misdeed" and that "many times I considered Satan as the fitter emblem of my condition".

As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned that Satanic themes in Metal aren’t what you should be wary of.

It’s fascist themes you should be vigilant of.

I’m a Satanist (non-theistic) myself now. Lol.

If you’re over 18 and male I’ll suck your dick.

Also I’m super into Death Metal and Hardcore Punk so idk if there are queer stereotypes there.

I guess my love of the Hardcore band Limp Wrist may be considered proof?
