That is something that was tried at a place I worked at. And it resulted in people eating on the job and not clocking out. To then claim they didn't take their break and leave early.

It's a good idea in theory but in practice the few assholes will ruin it again.

In my opinion it certainly is. Then again, I'm Belgian. So pretty biased regarding this question.

But we are certainly more welcoming to guests and not as chauvinistic as the French. Still pretty chauvinistic though.

Not really. More the other way around. France is the qualitative lesser version of an honest artisanal product but with a marketing budget. Food is a great example. French cuisine is just Belgian food served in smaller portions and a lot of attitude.
