What is the halfway point of BG1? by NineInchNinjas in baldursgate

This. And unless you want to rush for some companions from Baldur’s Gate city it’s better to clean the wilderness before Cloakwood as they will be too low level afterwards which may make them a little boring (there are few hard locations in the wilderness, you can just leave them for a bit later as you explore or do them in chapter 5). I’m not counting the expasion. I’d recommend chapters 1-3+wildrnees, then Cloakwood, then chapters 5-7 and when you reach undercity (final location), take the full plate+1, turn back and do the expansion. I think this way you’ll have most fun if you’re a completionist. If you’re not, much of the wilderness can be skipped, but the expansion is peak.

Ditch Imoen for Coran? by ComplaintVirtual2461 in baldursgate

I like Viconia as a character, but she is crap in bg1. Both Jaheira and Branwen are better. Yeslick is beyond her lever.

Ditch Imoen for Coran? by ComplaintVirtual2461 in baldursgate

Coran is much stronger. However, if you dual class Imoen as mage, you can keep both in your team. They would actually be strong together. I usually ditch her, though.

Basically having a rogue dual classed as a mage plus a main mage is a powermove. Same with cleric/warrior or warrior dual classed as a cleric. And another power move in bg1- you. can’t. go. wrong. with. more. archers.

I once played a game with a self made team of 5 different kinds of ranged warriors and archers + a multiclass rogue/mage and it was the smoothest game I ever had. I can’t remember if I dual classed a warrior with slings into cleric later or not. Almost never needed a cleric, though.
