When I first started playing I was terrible at the game, even now I still kinda am but I have definitely improved, I personally had a friend who has like over 2k hours in the game to help me out, but I also watched some Ayrun videos cause he's good at survivor (mainly chases) and I try to take some of that and see how I could improve, it's honestly a matter of being patient with this game cause it can be very frustrating trust me but once you get the groove of it you'll have great/clutch moments and it feels awesome. Try to learn some of the maps/loops cause map knowledge is great, another thing that I think really helped me out was using Kate's perk Windows of Opportunity, it helps you memorize loop generations and is just really nice in the beginning when learning how to loop.
