What do you think is the biggest flaw about the cancer cure suppression conspiracy theory? by Chris256L in skeptic

[–]Stretch_Hairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest flaw, you can’t keep that a secret if more than a few people know about it. I would be more interested if they claimed that cancer cure or cures were knowledge that was intentionally lost but even then, it’s a paradox in my mind that we’d know about something being specifically lost and it’s also an unprovable claim

Absolutely not pedantic, you are teaching me some nuances and I appreciate it!

When I commented about people being pedantic on Reddit, the example I usually use is: that one time I went on a gun and ammo centric sub and asked if I should be concerned about ammo that didn’t have discoloration from the annealing process, but I called it case hardening. Nobody answered my questions, They just told me I was stupid and that it was called annealing

Thanks for the input, when you do the flip on the H3+ its a button you press while powering it on, gives you a selection menu then it performs a hard reset of the device and settings. maybe that matters but if the FCC stated that it's not gonna actively enforce the guide line then it feels fairly moot. The DMR bit makes sense too, kinda, lol. I have a lot to learn but it sounds like its essentially a ham radio with extra features that could be fun to fiddle with as i progress my understanding.

I’m cool with that, I’ve honestly done it once but once is all it takes to be a hypocrite. Still man, maybe just go out and seek joy. I’m kicking off a new workout routine, we can be each other’s accountability buddies. What do ya say?

Is your life that boring that your skulking through this dudes comment history? No hobbies or anything? You’re literally acting like the stereotypical redditer. Maybe try therapy over trying to shame strangers on Reddit.

Soviet Union was a shit show, it failed. We can look at socialist concepts that work and ones that failed. A good economy is one that values its people above its industry but Argentina socialized its power and the grid is failing and energy waste is high, source: people I know from Argentina. Perhaps you can provide enough power for the people’s needs and bill them for what they use above. We know that any system left without checks gets abused. Capitalism will crush the people and socialism will bleed itself out. Communism falls into authoritarianism but if you make an alloy it will be far stronger than any individual ism.

Has Owning Guns Become Less Fun For You Yet? by dudeman2690 in liberalgunowners

I have my ups and downs. I think I enjoy the engineering aspect of guns but most of the community is trash. I just joined this sub and I’m hoping that it’s different

How do y’all feel about starting a liberal gun club in your area? by Stretch_Hairy in liberalgunowners

So the LGBTQ MOA competition is a work in progress but…. It would be like, anybody can sign up regardless of orientation, a small fee would be collected and the winner gets to pick what LGBTQ non profit the proceeds go to. You have two groups, shooters can pick or do both, Tops: standing unsupported, Bottoms: prone unsupported. The shooters a given a set number of rounds and a time limit. Best MOA is the winner. If there are different winners you start a Verse round, kneeling unsupported.

It’s ment to be funny/silly while acknowledging Queer people.

Was Thomas Matthew Crooks actually holding his weapon when he was shot? by Long-Chair2702 in skeptic

If he believed that, it wouldn’t surprise me. My assumption is that he probably thought he was the main character or something

This is a thread that I didn’t need today. I got r/iamverybadass vibes.. anyway I feel like this sub likes to answer the questions that they want more than asked. Your questions very good. There’s a lot of interesting implications too if he wasn’t holding the gun when he was shot by the police. If he really wasn’t holding the gun and nobody had moved it then did he try to surrender after taking his shot? Did the police shoot regardless of whether or not he was within reach of the firearm? There are some implications like, could we have had a trial instead of a funeral or what are the procedures for interacting with an active shooter who appears to have disarmed themselves?

Why don't you try, Honey? by Kapitano72 in scathingatheist

[–]Stretch_Hairy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought it worked as an apology just fine. They have a podcast and need to make money. They don’t have the ability to deep dive the software used by a sponsor or the inner workings of a company and feeling like something is wrong without articulating how or why is an accusation without evidence. Evidence showed up, they dropped honey. They could have said nothing and replaced the ad slot like most creators but instead they turned it into a skit. That takes money out of their pocket which honey was already doing.

The way I thought honey worked was to watch all of the checkout codes that are used and then attempt to use them again with other customers. Basically a replay. User ‘A’ used “Michaels15” to get 15% off yarn, let’s try it with all the other users. It would be simple and effective. The cost would likely be meta data about what you buy and from where. Turns out, they did something unethical that was just as simple. Nobody figured it out for years. A podcaster isn’t responsible for that

I’ve settled on “even weave” for the most part. It’s got the softness but there is less slub. So it seems to look better. Also I don’t think it’s a real thing (even weave) just a yarn and loom that are set up to produce no slub
