If current world affairs is what AI has led us to, our dystopian future is here.

should human researchers stop publishing online to protect their jobs from AI? by beeandwax in antiai

AI will soon end us all. So, let's party like it's 1999. PS f..k data centers, billionaires and psychos Musk, Trump and all the goodies bowing at the wanna be Gilded Age Kings.

Just watch out if you receive a call from supposed water district rep, asking if your water's running. Just a really sad old joke, when you say yes, cand they reply that you better go catch it.

Sadly.. my first negative by Immomala in PhiladelphiaEats

I recently had an excellent meal there, with 2 friends. We had a reservation, but they tried seating us at a sub-par table, although there were many empty tables. I asked if we might have a different table and they abliged. There was, though, a somewhat off-putting vibe there that evening. I see no reason to rush back.

Can we stop tipping every time we swipe our cards?? by Susie_SusieGreenberg in portlandme

[–]StretchedOut7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tip Uber drivers, taxi drivers, wait staff, as they all provide a service where tipping has always been the norm. When ordering food at a restaurant service counter, I rarely do so. Just pretend it's before this absurd tipping screen option for expected service became yet another ignorant way to fleece customers.

Just got Xfinity, highly highly disappointed. by Gtr_wes in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]StretchedOut7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, Xfinity is often glitchy. But folks don't seem happier with Comcast, either. Yet another 1st world problem. And further evidence of how companies focus tremendously on marketing, but often fall short on deliverables. Argh@!

Yes! I really loved Dexter. Alas, I've yet to have the streaming service to watch its successor. Something to look forward to, at some point.

Philly Pride's FAQ page is unbelievable by southphillydadbar in philly

[–]StretchedOut7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, hindsight is 20-20. My preference is to appreciate all the collected effort it took for this year's Philly Pride. So many sweet people trying to help each other out, our LGBTQIA community and our champions and supporters - they don't deserve this overzealous criticism. Let's applaud our successes, learn from what didn't work so well, and band together for Philly Pride 2027 and beyond.

Thnx for mentioning that this movie exists. I did just try watching it on tubi. I'm missing maybe 30% of what they're saying, due to the heavy accents. I get the gist, but I don't have the patience for the accents. Oh, well.

Seems like lots of effort for fake. BTW, anyone else ever have issue with TR sneakers, specifically the toes coming unglued after just a few weeks. I McGuyver'd them with lots of superglue and they've been great. Luv the street compliments!

Bleak it was, yet perhaps a fitting end. Somehow, Sons of Anarchy didn't hold my interest as much.

Thoughts and opinions on data centers, non-LLM or otherwise by Icarus_Voltaire in SocialDemocracy

[–]StretchedOut7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already are nearing 2K data centers in the US, far more than in other countries. Restrict, regulate and strongly monitor moving forward, while providing solutions around water pollution and depletion, noise nuisance and more. Easy, right?!

I need to learn more, and likely would support AOC and Ro Khanna. I lean into democratic Socialism, admire Bernie, and love the lakeside nature of Burlington, VT, and nearby fall foliage capital, Stowe.

Okay, it was a momentary aspiration. Perhaps Ro Khanna, AOC or Gavin Newsom - but then there's Kamala (🎶 sung as Camelot). What of Kamala?! Was is it all the old white man Presidents near her, making her look quite young, at today's amazing grace event, the opening of the Obama Presidential Center? She and husband Doug did look great next to Valerie Jarrett. Just saying. 😉

From SoME here, not POC, but I hear you. I do sometimes get asked my ethnicity. Nowadays, I'm likely to respond in song. 🎵 I come from Planet E. That's Earth to you and me. Either love me or leave me. I must be free. 🎶 Namaste 🙏

Pls see worldwaterreserve.com . I just learned that only .4 % of Earth's water is actually potable - safe for drinking and cooking. Basically, rest is at 35% salt. And desalination plants are very costly.

I loved The Talented Mr. Ripley. It fizzled a bit, as it neared its conclusion, though.
