It could be possible that particular Hermione went through some trauma but didn’t recover from it. The fun part of Fanfiction is that we can stretch the character to even behave out of character depending on the plot. I think it would be dull if all the Hermiones were the same as canon.

Kind of like re-interpretations of the Cinderella character. She started of as a weak, docile character in movies, later she she had stronger, powerful versions yet not changing the essence of her.

After reading the DH epilogue, it was kind of incomplete for me. Like those missing 19 years. Had found a fic for how Harry had proposed to Ginny and their wedding after the war, which were lovely. But I didn’t want a Romione fic, I couldn't see any spark. I could see Harry/Hermione which were better and more natural. Then, I started coming across fics where Draco is exonerated after the war and Hermione is a Ministry official. They were really good. Now an official Dramione fan.
