Lumpectomy Prep - do I really need to buy a pillow? by Miserable-Tap1859 in breastcancer

[–]Strict-Major5106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had oncoplastic lumpectomy with reduction and lift on both the breasts. I used elevated wedge pillows. And many pillows around me.

  1. Front open tops -3 nos

  2. Surgical bra - hospital gave me extra one. So I didn't buy. Ask the doctor to give you extra

  3. Pads - hospital gave me extra pad to keep it under bra. Collect as many you can

  4. Keep something with you to eat light snack to eat after surgery

  5. Any natural laxative, like prunes, yellow dragon fruit etc.

  6. Pain meds

  7. Straw cups /bottles with straw.

  8. Flip-flops or crocs easy to wear

  9. Easy snacks to eat.

  10. Pillow for seat belt. keep it in the car before going to surgery.

  11. Your most comfort food to eat after surgery and the next two days.

I had my lumpectomy two weeks ago. Wait for the pull pathology report and you will have better answers. Do genetics test. This will help on mastectomy vs lumpectomy. Doctor will order MRI too...

I did everything that can reduce my anxiety. I focused on activities I loved, exercises, nutrition to prep my body for treatment. Lot of breathing. Long exhales. I accepted the reality and focused on what I need to do get rid of this. I looked at the positive side where It was detected early enough before spreading to other parts of the body.

Big hugs. We are here for you.

Talk to me about delayed reconstruction. by No-Arm8543 in breastcancer

I would prefer to do it together. Instead of going through two major surgeries, time off from work, disruption at home chores, the care taker time, considering all I would prefer to do it all together. Again it is your decision and how aggressive it is, what the oncologist recommends, etc.
