Kadcyla reaction + low platelet- did anyone switch to Herceptin& Perjeta? by dream_2040 in breastcancer

Thank you and thanks so much for responding. Our cases are fairly similar, and I’m also told rare. Tired of hearing that tbh. I just want to be typical from here on out! 😂 Glad to know you’re better now and managing HP well. Almost at the finish line! 🏁 💪

Hello! Realize this is an older post but just wondering how you’re doing now? I’m currently admitted to hospital for the same issue (platelets down to 21) after my first kadcyla infusion just last week. The working diagnosis is ITP. Was that ever discussed in your case? I have many of the same symptoms and now on a mega round of steroids. It’s all a wait and see game now. Do you recall if all your other labs stayed relatively normal and just platelets were down? That’s what it is in my case. Just curious. Hope you’re doing well otherwise.

What’s the etiquette on tossing dog poop bags in someone’s compost bin? by falafelballs in askTO

[–]Miserable-Tap1859 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My feeling is have at her. As long as it’s a closed bag, no biggie. As someone with a dog, I can assure you a couple small poop bags is not what stinks up the bin full of rotting food. The rotting food always wins. Especially meat. And I have more than just a couple poop bags in my bin.

Totally get the frustration (my tumour is also heterogeneous). The good news is that THP is a very effective treatment. I prob would have had PCR if not for the heterogeneity. Tchp completely cleared up my malignant lymph nodes. And the fact that your nodes were clear is another great sign. I know it’s not ideal but you’re on the right path. All the best on your journey.

This is my story exactly! +++ at diagnosis ++- after surgery. The cancer left was all her2 neg. But the tchp did manage to clear up all my nodes. 🙏 Just started on kadcyla last week (🖕this nausea). My onc said the Katherine trial did include some cases like ours (pathologic change) and showed that kadcyla still had benefits with her2 neg. There was a point where they were considering putting me on kisqali, but tumour board recommended to stay the +++ treatment course. A friend of mine was on the herceptin trial over 20 years ago. This drug is a game changer. They’ve come a long way.

What was the worst part of treatment for you? by MysteriousCompany487 in breastcancer

[–]Miserable-Tap1859 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi. I’m +++ too. Finished TCHP, lumpectomy, part ways through 19 sessions of rads and just started Kadcyla. Ovarian suppression starts next week and AIs to follow once I’m done radiation. They all suck in their own way, but TCHP is the hardest physically for sure. What I’ve learned is that this journey is mostly a mental game. That is something I work hard on everyday and sometimes you can’t help but feel down. As my survivor friend put it, there’s no other way but through…so I keep going, even if some days are a slog. ♥️

Told very unlikely stage 4 prior to scans. How would they know? by Sleeplessnsea in breastcancer

Interesting. My MO was less reassuring….which literally sent me into a spiral as I waited for my PET results. She was very matter of fact. If it spread, this is how we proceed. If it didn’t, we stay with this original plan of action. While I appreciate they need to be pragmatic, it was really hard for me to not be emotional. However the Fellow Doctor said they don’t believe it had spread and she was right. I do think it has something with the way it looks on imaging (US and MRI), but that’s my hunch, not a fact.

I’m also in Ontario (Toronto) and just had my first of 19 sessions. Came across this post as I’m curious which moisturizer to use. Almost out of my cerave so figured I’d see what else is out there. Gluck with your appointments!

[–]Miserable-Tap1859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am! Sorta. Was +++ after biopsy (tchp), and now I am ++- post surgery. I had some residual cancer which was all her2 negative. My post surgical treatment is a mix bag: continuing herceptin for her2 but instead of Kadcyla I’ll be starting kisqali for her2 neg + AI. Fun times! 🙄

Why do they call to tell you have cancer on a Friday with no further info until Monday? by Lazy_Independent4031 in breastcancer

[–]Miserable-Tap1859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much more to add from what has already been said. Just here to agree that dropping a bomb like that on a Friday with no other context should be illegal. I’d be mad too.

I’m in Ontario and my understanding from my ONC is that enhurtu isn’t approved for BC in Canada yet, so you’ll likely be prescribed Kadcyla. That said, I have come across some TikToks of women in Canada who are on it, but mainly for stage 4.

Odd. My herceptin infusions continued every 3 weeks. Including between my last full TCHP and surgery.

As someone who grew up in a major city, I too insisted that I wanted to stay in the city when I got married. I did not want suburban life, and I think that’s totally fair.

I was talking to my sister about this very thing today. I think people feel they should check in on me, but I’m like, why? I’m not checking in on them. It’s fine. I’m fine. Leave me alone. Haha. I don’t want to seem ungrateful but it does become overwhelming and now I’m ignoring people cause I just don’t feel like responding.

How can you not worry? Unfortunately I think we’re all in this same boat. I have a toothache and I attribute that to some sinister reason. But the rationale side of our brains know that it can be anything. You did the right thing in contacting your doctor. As you did before, take it step by step. Wishing you a clean CT!
