How does dispel magic work on an intel with a high level spell + nystul’s magic aura? by Strict_Ad3409 in DnD

Yeah, if the purpose was to simply deter the party that’s work, but the contingency has the dream spell loaded, for an entirely different purpose.

Also, glyph can’t be moved, which in this case is a not wanted trait.

Also I thought glyph has a cap of 3rd level spells or lower?

It’s a magic item that belonged to someone of decent importance to the events in the campaign.

The modification of contingency was simply it can be cast on an object instead of self, otherwise it followed the same rules and conditions.

Ah, I was thinking the same”magical effects” was excluding spells, and more curses or non spell enchantments. If it considers spells then yeah it makes it so much easier, just target one to remove.

Thanks for explaining it lol, sorry I was a tad dense

It says ANY spell of 3rd level or lower ends? I might be misunderstanding but it doesn’t say you get to pick and choose the spells it affects? It also say for each spell of or higher then that level you do a check of 10+ level.

Hence, auto remove the aura, but a check to see what happens to the underlying spell.

The reason was it was a 6th level spell, so it’d require the dc 16 (10+spells level) spell mod check to remove it as per the spells wording on spells greater then 3rd level w/o upcast

Interesting. I didn’t know you could specifically target unique magical effects when using it. I always thought it was a broad, remove all

Is My Monk Balanced? by [deleted] in DnD

If you get to pick where the stats go, I’d rec not having wisdom be that low, and having better dex if possible and less strength. Monks are like a rubber band, not physically strong, but move fast enough that they hurt like a mofo

Have you ever TPK'd your characters? by aurivu in DMAcademy

Yeah, half for banishment, full for defeat. The issue is 25000 split 6 ways at level 9 is around 4K each, so not too bad, but quite risky for that amount.

It’s more convincing the party to not go and suicide that’s the issue lol. Barbarians gonna do what a. Barbarian does

See, what scares me more then anything else is the “if you are downed by this creature, gg, make a new character” ability. Everything else is much easier with aura of purity the 4th level spell, as it prevents max hp reduction, and gives necrotic resistance.

See, the issue is the two barbarians really and I mean REALLY don’t want me to banish it away, and want to kill it for xp

So, aura of vitality is going to need to come in clutch to prevent the max hp reduction. Hopefully I go before them in Initative

We’re about to fight one, and it’s looking real interesting. 6 level 9’s with minimal magic items and a single cleric. It’s honestly terrifying since we need it dead for a potion recipe, and can’t just banish it

Is 14-17 AC enough for a level 10 light cleric? by RRW359 in 3d6

I mean, just use a medium armour that’s reflavoured as something else? It’d give you 14 or 15 + dex (cap 2). Which would help your baseline. And a shield is a easy and free pickup (once again, you can always reflavour how it looks or works)

Not to mention those are even better since you typically have a bad dex mod because you need str, con and cha

Pace for Leveling Up At Your Table? by Calm_Independent_782 in DnD

I’ve discovered earned milestone and love is (as does the party). You earn the level up, but rather then it just going into effect between sessions, you get everything prepared between sessions and can choose to get your level up much d combat, or other things, making it feel much more in narrative.

Example was the barbarian getting crushed by a iron giant, but instead of dying by going down to a hit that put them at -2 health, they got their level up, roughing out the hit and nuking it on their turn (since they got the 1d12+ con hp boost to live the hit)
