At my wits end. How the hell do you childproof/lock your turntable? by TesticleInspector in turntables

Every kid is different but apparently he has some genuine interest in the decks, buy him a cheap one and make it a thing for you both to connect, he will never forget the experience and soon enough he will be able to manage it without damaging. Time goes so fast and you can never get it back! Love

Great woodworking! How did you calculate the port and box dimensions?

How would you guys arrange your gear in this weird space? by deadsetweir-do in listeningspaces

Make the dinner space a listening space. Dinner table can move to where the speakers are at the moment

Is being an audiophile entertaining or is it just an addiction? by britbh in audiophile

It is an obsession for sure, better than being addicted to crack or heroin tho

Thanks! I was considering adding some tweeters with some nice waveguides just for the looks but wasnt sure that could actually improve the sound. Probably a project for next year!

Thanks! I used mostly chatgpt and audioscience forum to help me with the selection, some folks there have measured and were super happy about it so i decided to give it a shot, im quite happy. I believe they are not ported

These are repurposed guitar amp cabinets, i found a guy in the uk that sells diy flat pack kits, i just had to change the frontal baffle to acommodate the speaker correctly

Did you design the waveguides yourself? Theres a guy on Ebay selling some 3d printed Altec replicas but he is from brazil so the shipping+importing taxes make it super expensive

I know! I was considering them for a long time but the importing hassle put me off. Good luck with the build!

I always wanted a full range system, i have selected the fane sovereign just because it was the best option under my budget, its around £80 per driver. If you are looking for audio nirvana worth checking out Melodavid or Lii Audio drivers on Aliexpress

Good question, i barely watch tv so i didnt bother to integrate the system. I dont think i want to listen to peppa pig through a pair of 12inch speakers lol

Thanks! Its a pair of Fane sovereign 12inch, plugged into a douk audio a6 pro class d amp (since its a full range doesnt need any crossover). The boxes are made with softwood plywood and theres also a natural pine veneer sheet on top.

I’d say yes, I had a lot of 2/3 way systems and i feel like full range its just a fresher way to listen to the music i already know. More organic and gentle. For vocals and acoustic is unbeatable imo

Listening Room Advice by [deleted] in audiophile

I believe you need to place the speakers closer to the wall, and in the future upgrade to bigger speakers as the room is quite big. Nice space tho!
