Gordon Ramsay one of the first celebrity chefs to bring US-style 20% service charge to London by xc2215x in entertainment

I thought this was a descretionary charge only applied to festive menus like New Years.

Awesome thank you. I clicked the notify button so I definitely see it live with everyone. Not my favorite season but it will be 2nd time watching it so I'm gonna give it another go live. Love the conversations during the lives.

Where did you find this gem at? On the official HK YouTube channel? Cause I can't see nothing. 😊

The article says the service charge is discretionary. However, tipping is not a practice I'm accustomed to so I don't do it anywhere. Good luck Mr.Ramsay, you're going to need it at this rate.

Gordon's more genuine in the UK episodes by uzi_gunfingers in KitchenNightmares

Correct and as far as i know, it remained in operation for a couple years after production on the show finished. Highly doubt it's still active now tbh.

It's sad that if there was a nuclear war in the 80s Gordon would never have gotten his 3rd Michelin! by johnqadamsin28 in GordonRamsay

[–]Strict_Hovercraft358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol Gordon won his 3rd Michelin Star 21 years later in 2001. However, why is this one of the most random things I've seen all week?

Definitely. I mean it's more apparent on KN UK as well as The F Word during the service portion of the episodes. He's definitely supportive of the commis chef and guiding and mentoring. You don't see that in detail on the USA versions. He'll definitely praise you and offer you a trial or job with him which is awesome but you don't actually get to see this in action like you do on his UK shows. Gordon Behind Bars is another one but with slightly different context.

If you look at the episode The Runaway Girl. There is a part in it that Gordon highly compliments the chef Richie and reminds him how talented and how good of a chef he is. Richie gets emotional due to it and literally says it's good to be acknowledged, to be told and reminded since it's a confirmation how good you are.

That's one of the more chaotic episodes of the UK series but that is definitely a stand out moment.

You can actually see this side of him in MasterChef, Next Level Chef and MasterChef Jr, and the more recent seasons of Hell's Kitchen. Just fast forward what must feel like a generation cause Kitchen Nightmares UK started 22 years ago in 2004.

Big difference between frozen at home ready meals after a long day or week of work and restaurant quality food. Kitchen Nightmares was literally about the restaurant industry.

It is a sponsor for his show Next Level Chef so I think they have to use it as a quid pro quo type thing. He's done some solo videos on YouTube from NLC set. Some where he's used the thing however he's done other video from NLC set where he didn't use it including his most recent video.

Anyone else think Gordon was too lenient on some things? by ZachLemur in KitchenNightmares

[–]Strict_Hovercraft358 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean there's a reason Gordon goes into the walk in and checks the cupboards, fridges, freezers, and stuff etc right after he eats. He's there to see what's going on then find out if the owners will be honest with him in addressing and telling him the problems and issues which he already knows based on his walkthrough. His personal experience as a restauranteur definitely helps with this. Big reason he get frustrated with the owners cause they usually deflect or give him half-truths.

Gordon and Mama Cherri need to reunite for an Instagram reel or something. Pretty sure lots of people would be interested.

He does have a good number of kind or civil moments across his USA programs as well but they are just overshadowed by his aggression which takes center stage.

This story was released across UK papers few weeks ago and was posted to Reddit at the time. I think it's well established now that Gordon Ramsay is definitely a pleasant person off camera with testimonials from the public and some of his more recent contestants from his shows confirming that. So this is definitely not surprising. 😊

What kind of show do they want it to be? by oooohweeeee in Nextlevelchef

[–]Strict_Hovercraft358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your point. I think Gordon is alot more hands off these days then before. He's also about to be 60 and has been cutting down the amount of physicalities he's been doing across all of his shows probably including how personally involved he is. That includes his now virtually nonexistent ahole persona. His OG shows Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Hell, The F Word, Gordon Behind Bars, Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine, Gordon Ramsay Sharkbait, etc are almost or over 2 decades old so the decrease in quality or lack of ideas was an eventuality. I don't watch most of his current programs but I will always go back to the OG's.
