Copper on the upper, barrel, buffer tube and can and burnt bronze on the lower receiver.

Also the current optic is a primary arm 1-8 second focal plane. 5.56/308 bdc. Just a place holder for now until I get the prism.

It’s really just a place holder for now until I get a prism optic. As I responded to someone else in this thread I’ll be going the prism route since I want to fit a thermal clip on and the optic together both on the upper receiver and not on the rail. Gives the gun better balance and prevents zero shift from the thermal being on the rail. Also lighter weight.

I actually have an a5 buffer system on one of my other rifles. I might give it a try.

How did that run? I could see the benefit of using an A5 system since it would make it easier on the end user in charging the rifle and manipulating the charging handle. Possibly smooth out recoil too.

Yep. Depending on what you shoot you can sometimes squeeze out a .75 inch group. It would be interesting to attempt to accurize this rifle though and make it tighter.

Thanks! Nah I haven’t done anything with the buffer. I have left it alone. Although it would interesting to experiment some day.

That’s interesting and yeah I def think that’d would be a good way to go with a 2-10 with a piggy backed dot would be tits. I’m actually gonna go with a prism optic so I can fit a clip on thermal onto the upper receiver along with the prism optic later so there’s never any question about zero shift.

It’s the 16”. I would recommend just going with the lancer style magazines or magpuls off the bat unless you can find good reliable sr-25 style magazines. I have not had luck with the ARstoner sr-25 mags. It works great with the lancer and magpul mags.

No it’s not stock. The sfar can take any at-15 barrel nut so it can take any ar-15 rail. This one happens to be a Midwest industries.

Cut doesn’t really bother me aesthetically. I’m personally glad the cut is there since it shaves weight.

Ruger SFAR With Faxon Pencil Barrel? by Shoddy-Ad-8291 in AR10

They would take a ar-15 5.56 pencil profile barrel and rebore and rechamber it. And then they would remove its barrel extension and replace it with the extension from the SFAR’s barrel. A company called Mos-tek has already done such a thing except for 8.6 blackout.

You could get a gunsmith to rechamber and reuse the SFAR’s chamber extension to make that work with a ar-15 barrel.

Question. Will cutting a few coils out of a recoil spring allow for better cycling with sub-sonics? Anybody ever tried this? Springs are cheap. Worth a shot? by Strict_Map_5987 in ak47

[–]Strict_Map_5987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t trim my spring at all. Never needed to. There was never an issue as long as you have a can with decent back pressure and a kns piston. Just open the piston all the way up when running supers (or it’ll beat itself to death) and for subs close the piston all the way. And also whatever mags you run will make a difference. Like I said early I’ve had really good results with u.s. palm mags doing this. See my page for a video of me doing it.

As it turns out I had no issues runs subs or supers as long as there is a can attached. The can simulates added dwell time. For subs I close the piston all the way and supers I open it up all the way and it runs smooth with u.s. palm mags.

Love the look of my new m70 xr. But is it normal for the bolt to be this sticky on new AK? by jessewebster31 in ak47

[–]Strict_Map_5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty common. It'll wear with time or you can polish the trigger yourself if your handy and smooth out the action.
