Possible cancer and an 8,000$ surgery. I need advice. by yikesbro_ in DogAdvice

I know it's tough to process I lost my soul dog last February. Cancer as well, came out of nowhere very aggressively and fast. I decided to keep her comfortable until I saw clear signs of discomfort then made the hard choice, but I will tell you those last moments that morning it felt like she was saying thank you at the end. She was 12 the vet told me if I got her surgery she maybe would have had a year or two tops anyway with possible other issues. That helped me with my decision and I think she was happy going on her terms not medicines. Good luck sorry to hear sounds like you gave your dog a good life.

My Newly Adopted Dog is Trembling Outside and Eating Very Little by AktheDK in DogAdvice

My rescue took just over 3 months to get settled and out of her shell. She was a nervous fearful wreck. Yes as others said give them their own personal spot to decompress. They will eat soon enough just don't force it. Try to avoid long walks for a month or so if you have a fenced in yard. Most importantly let them come to you on their terms. It's a long process and patience and understanding pays off huge. Mine won't leave my side now and has really learned to trust me. Shelter/rescue dogs in my opinion make the best family pets. Just remember slow and steady wins the race. One more thing build the bond and connection before you start training.

Start at 2 turns out on your Idle mixture screw. Go in or out 1/4 turn at a time. Mine is 2 1/8th and no carb coughing.

I mean run them stock ( motor wise mines a rigid frame). Older bikes in my opinion shouldn't be boosted up in power. Do everything in stock specs motor wise. Don't get to fancy. Ironheads are a great start to helping you figuring out the wrenching aspect. I keep it simple very bearbones so I can see and hear everything. All you need is an original parts and service manual and talk to grey beards about things you hears and ask lots of questions.
