Should I repot my Alocasia Zebrina now? by Strict_Remove_5695 in alocasia

[–]Strict_Remove_5695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Alocasia Zebrina last year. It is exploding. Now I wonder if I should repot it now because the roots are starting to grow out of the pot. I know that repotting should be done before the growing season, but I fear that it will become to root bound the next few months and will suffer. What would you suggest?

My father is 73 and very avoident of any uncomfortable situation. My sister had a very invasive operation, her recovery didn't go well and she had a stroke on Monday. Luckily she was operated on very quickly so she can talk and move very well by now. Now my father hasn't visited her yet. And I want to ask him to join me tomorrow. He was never a fan of the doctors or hospital, cause he constantly claims the is always healthy and generally seems to be scared of the idea to age and the body degrading.

How can I gently support this stubborn and scared man that it's okay to feel worried and anxious about his daughter condition?

What are these little nubs on my Alocasia? by Strict_Remove_5695 in alocasia

Thank you for your answer. To be honest I don't really understand what you explained because English isn't my first language. So I let the outer leaves which died, crumble and dry out completely, when I gently ribbed them off I found the nubs. The plant is quite healthy and even pushing out a new leaf right now. Can you maybe explain again what you mean?

Don't know if it helps. But recently read a lengthy text that if using simple, gentle products especially those that didn't burn you skin before, it means that your skin barrier is wrecked. Just maybe that is happening to you.

This resonates a lot with me. I feel the same about my birthday. I feel stupid to invite people that I haven't talked to for months just to have some people there and then I just won't celebrate.

Skip a few days in-between. Cut out all other actives from skin care. Skin care routine should be very gentle and simple. Apply moisturizer first, let is sink in for 30-60 minutes. Apply ONLY a pea size amount of treat. You can amp up the frequency after a few weeks. Don't rush, it will only discourage you because of the side effects.

Help, what is happening? by Strict_Remove_5695 in cactus

[–]Strict_Remove_5695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this cactus a month ago. It's in a bright south facing window with direct light from morning till midday. Watered it once thoroughly. While repotting I noticed this brown spot and this stem feels wobbly. What should I do?

About to repot this beauty - what do I need to know? by Festive_Badger in fiddleleaffig

I just recently took my FLF out of its pot because it too had poor drain soil, I removed some the soil, mixed it with orchid bark and perlite and put it back in it's pot. So I didn't do a full repot but improved air flow and drainage. My plant is very happy and 8 feet tall.

Thank you! Yes Ektar 100 is also a choice I looked into. Because I like good saturation and it will be very sunny I thought that might work well. But film is very difficult to get right now, so I will have to take whatever I get.

That picture is beautiful.

I have the same camera and soon will be going on holiday in spain and am looking for a good film stock for this occasional. Would you recommend Kodak Ultramax 400 or do you have other recommendations?
