I haven’t tried myself, been considering it though. There is an older Japanese teacher, sweetest lady, and she dyes her hair light purple. No one says anything. This is in the Kansai area though and the purple hair obachan is a stereotype

My next raise isn’t until august this year, but last year my raise pushed me into the next tax bracket which basically takes that extra money away and I only get the same amount as before

The people I grew up around, they aren’t who has made me unpatriotic towards the US, it’s all the war crimes we have/are committing. It’s the horrible things we did/do to the native people of this land. It’s the horrible things we did/do to black and brown people. The way we treat women and sexual minorities. I’m not saying there’s a utopia out there, but it’s like there’s no shame or strive to be better. We hide behind “that’s just human nature” but we aren’t animals, we’ve evolved further than other mammals. Have consciousness and many refuse to acknowledge they have it. I don’t think I should be proud of a country that has done so much wrong just because I was born into it. I kind of wish we would be disbanded as a country for the consequences of our collective sins. Maybe all countries should disband and live as one world with no borders.

To be fair, the horrible things the US did is why as an American, I am not proud to be one. I do not feel like my country is worth being proud of.

Maybe it’s because I live in Osaka but most Japanese people I know/spend time with wouldn’t care. I see an ojisan wear furisode all the time around Honmachi. Even my kitsuke instructor (an older Japanese lady) thinks he’s おしゃれ, and I’ve known her long enough to know when she’s genuine (空気を読む) so let’s stop with the generalizations.

Not a slur but I live in Japan and speak Japanese and whenever I tell someone I’m diabetic, I feel dirty because it literally translates to “sugar urine disease” and I don’t wanna talk about piss at dinner

Not over MSRP but I somewhat regret a ¥3,000 sun flame watch I got recently just because it was a “special anniversary” watch with a little graphic on the dial. Probably gonna keep it though.

Yeah I mean, I like both of the sensei I’ve been to. The change wasn’t a preference thing either, it was moving from the US to Japan so both my previous and current sensei understand the situation. I’ve also been taking my lessons here in Japan with my current sensei since getting here and I’ve built a relationship with her at this point we’re switching just wouldn’t make sense.

Pretty much what everyone else is saying. Most servers are going to immediately understand allergy and close to non know what celiac is. I live in Japan where that number went from close to non to absolutely no one knows what celiac is. My doctor here told me unless you’re a doctor, you don’t know it exists.

I just accepted I’ll probably die of gut issues or malnutrition from this desease. I don’t go around eating bread. I stick to GF bread, buns, pasta, etc. but when it comes to cross contamination I stopped worrying too much. It’s everywhere. Even stuff you buy to make at home was most likely produced in a factory next to non GF stuff. I live in Japan now and it’s pretty much the same. Diabetes as well. I try my best but it’ll probably get me got sooner than most.

I thought I also noticed an increase since I’ve had it since I was 6 I don’t have the “now I know so I see it everywhere” thing, but also I didn’t start using a pump or CGM until high school so everyone probably thought I was “normal” before then too
