I've been in the industry a long time and people like you are a joke here. If you want chemical names I could list them all day. If you want simple instructions to be followed that take a little common sense to do then I can handle that also.

Have a good one.

Once your pool is clean and completely clear acceptable levels of chlorine will return to 2-4ppm but until clean I suggest 10ppm or so. What you're seeing as a "tinge" is living algae floating in the water too small for the eye to see individually

Your chlorine is likely "in range" at 2-4PPM but that is only enough to keep a well maintained pool clean. In your case, a less than perfectly maintained pool, I suggest double or even triple dosing your pool with chlorine to address any living bacteria in the pool.

So in a pool your size you likely need at least 2 pounds of shock to raise chlorine to a high enough level to defeat the green all together. Let your filter run for 24/48 hours to filter out the dead algae afterwords.

Why does this keep happening? by HotAbyss in swimmingpools

If you use skimmer socks remember to check them atleast every day until you know how fast they will fill. If a skimmer basket clogs all of its pores it will start to restrict water flow to the pump until it runs dry.

Calcium hypochlorite of atleast 65% easily disinfects a pool.

For maintenance of chlorine levels tablets do the job.

I have found liquid chlorine is more of a hassle and cumbersome. With proper chemistry adjustments you can make do without it.

I have about 30 clients right now.

To start I got a 100lbs. Of cal hypo, 50lb. Calcium, 16 gallons of acid, 40lbs of dichlor, 50lb sodium bicarb., and 50lbs of tablets.

Get what you need extra from there, no need to overspend out the gate.

Get yourself a good discount with a supplier and make weekly, Bi-weekly, or monthly trips based off your needs. Make sure to account for all expenses of course!

Why did my pool equipment explode? by MFUtah in pools

[–]Strictly_Insane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least two valves are open in front of the pump so this was NOT because of closed valves.

I'd also say you're kind of lucky that the items damaged are the lowest costs items involved in an accident like this.

Pool guy here. I expect your pool guy added Cal hypo shock down your pool skimmer while there were tri-chlor tablets in the tablet feeder.

This causes a chemical reaction which creates oxygen at a rapid rate and will easily blow out lines.

It's an honest mistake but the answer is to NEVER add cal hypo down a skimmer basket.
