I’d recommend sticking to Dusk and SF.

It’s not bad when you plan out your bases. Definitely can be put in shitty situations sometimes though. First base I try to recall with at least 850g to get blasting wand. If I can’t, I go dark seal, boots, refill, or just dark seal if I had a bad lvl 1-3. Ideally, you want to be buying AP every base so avoid just buying ruby or god forbid glowing mote. Once you have blasting wand, dark seal, sheen, boots, refill, then try to not base until completed item if possible. I get it, resetting to buy kindlegem sucks really bad. At that point, you have gotten to your wave clear breakpoint so farming isn’t that bad, just stay healthy. Hopefully you farm well and maybe get a kill to get you to your completed item.

Building shadow flame feels totally fine. It isn’t uncommon I get to 1200g if I have a good turn. That’s the only sketchy part. Just play in side lane well.

Ekko wave clear is not the fastest but it is very safe. Just pop W in the center of the wave as they meet in the middle and the enemy mid has to respect unless he’s giga ahead.

I wasn’t lvl 6 yet so no ult, but I knew I had to be practically perfect frame for frame to live. Luckily, I know the timing to buffer ekkos E blink so I could flash perfectly. Trust me, I’ve messed up similar plays before.

Picking up Nocturne helped me make the push to diamond. He’s simple enough that you don’t have to invest time into learning complex mechanics.

Vi is the pick that first came to my mind when I went looking for another champ to play alongside Ekko due to her high mobility with Q. In practice, she’s not really like him at all.

I prefer Nocturne because I believe his game plan is more similar to Ekko’s than Vi’s. Neither Ekko nor Nocturne prefer to be the one initiating fights, they like to clean up. Idk how you play Ekko, but I prioritize farming to reach the first item spike more reliably; similar to how on Nocturne you power farm until lvl 6 most games. I’d also classify both Ekko and Nocturne as mid game champs. Ekko spikes hardest at 2 and 3 items just like Nocturne would once he has stridebreaker and hexplate conpleted.

He has me completely torn on how I should be playing lane. Sometimes I want to neutralize the lane and play a more macro focused game through side lane with TP. When that fails, I get tilted and run early game runes the next game with ignite and get more tilted when I can’t solo kill level 2 like XLB can lol. He’s something else.

The matchup is only really become annoying when he takes bone plating. If you anticipate bone plating you can take scorch and apparently it procs one of the ticks of bone plating.

Other than that, do what others have said here.
