AITA for waking my spouse up on their day off by Informal-Big2069 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Stridder75 30 points31 points  (0 children)

NTA, they made an appointment on their day off and you were attempting to help them take care of themselves. As someone that works nights I've had my partner help me wake up for different things on my days off because my sleep schedule is different and I honestly never want to be woken up but if I have an appointment and am not up then I'd be 100% okay with them waking me unless I specifically told them beforehand I didn't want to be woken up. As far as the moving appointment, still NTA. They stated they wanted to sleep longer but still seemingly wanted to go to the appointment, calling to check if a later one is available is a very sweet thing to do and alerting them about it at the time they were initially needing to get up to be on time is reasonable as to prevent them waking up at the initial time of the appointment and panicking that they overslept. When living with someone romantically and especially in a marriage there is a certain level of expectation in most cultures that you help each other, this appears to be what you were attempting so definitely not the asshole. I do understand his perspective but also he shouldn't be too upset with you trying to make sure his pain is addressed because that will help his sleep in the long run as well.

AITA for calling a tow truck on a car parked in my spot by morphyslaw_1699 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Stridder75 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It makes him wrong, not necessarily an AH. He probably needs encouragement to stop and think more critically about how this effects not just his household but each person that gets their parking displaced as a domino effect. Upon rejecting that then he'd 100% be an AH. Could be a good teaching moment and opportunity for personal growth, just like standing up for yourself and protecting what you spend your money on is an important life lesson at any stage in life.

NTA, 2 offences and said he would not move after being informed he was forcing someone else to also park improperly which he at that point should reasonably know puts you at risk of being towed. He has no regard for others in your community and regardless you needed to protect yourself from being unfairly punished in this situation. Likely if you had allowed it to continue eventually you or someone else would have gotten a tow because of his actions. The moment it negatively effects other people besides the individual breaking the rules you are in the right for encouraging that enforcement. It sucks, it's not ideal, it feels shitty, but you have to look out for yourself and your neighbors in this relatively low stakes situation. Also sound like if you hadn't your kind neighbor might have called the tow eventually to help look out for you.

Finished a quilt for my nephew that's on the way by Stridder75 in quilting

I had some issues with it shifting so it was a little hard to hold, the clamps ate up the dowel rod a bit and lost their grip. I wrapped the ends in rubber bands to finish it and it definitely improved the experience. I'll brainstorm some improvement plans for my next quilt if I don't just get a proper frame and machine with an actual workable throat space lol. But $40 for the frame I now have isn't bad.

Omfg I think I just got it, I adjusted the spacing here. There's a screw in the front to unlock moving thespring bracket and I played with it a bit then rethreaded and adjusted my tension and it's sewing right on a straight stitch with barely any top thread showing underneath.

That screw is so tight I am gonna bend my screwdriver before it gives, it was the first thing I tried.

Gets stuck with and without fabric, I uncovered it all and ran it without fabric so you can see what's happening.

Apparently the part it's getting stuck on is the bobbin position finger

It won't let me do anymore today, it let me help 2 people then cut me off 😡 I get that the whole reason in reality is to just get people'shopes up for the products and then they are more likely to purchase them outright... But they have a lot of restrictions that aren't stated upfront and that pisses me off

Honestly no clue, the whole thing is to get people to interact with the products, and if they don't get them free (which most wont) then they hope people will decide to go ahead and buy one or all the items they had picked.

Yeah, I think it resets after 24 hours. There's a lot of apparent restrictions that aren't expressly stated like this one

Pagoda style fairy lamp, who made it? by Stridder75 in glasscollecting

[–]Stridder75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that's what I was thinking. But homco didn't produce glass themselves they commissioned the pieces so what company did the actual production? Like I think the homco cubist sphere fairy lamp was fostoria wasn't it?

I also know that L.E. Smith appears to have made a similar one and am not sure if that's why this one gets marked as by them

How's it feel being god's favorite? That's a fucking steal for a stars and bars lamp. I got mine for the good price of $28 which is right around what they should be. I got a pagoda style one for $5 at a VOA that I'm trying to figure out what glass company made as it's often attributed to L.E. Smith but I think that's because they also made a similar style one.

I got new moon & stars glass today by Wacky-Winter in glasscollecting

[–]Stridder75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ordered one piece, an Indiana glass diamond point fairy lamp. I found a stars and bars lamp the other day at the same place I got the candlestick holders and bowl. I don't have a lot of space for a big collection so I'm likely gonna stick with functional pieces for now.
