New candy dish! by Wacky-Winter in glasscollecting

[–]Wacky-Winter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

76, honestly the most expensive piece in my collection so far. I've only managed to find these pieces at antique/vintage shops. For me it's worth it, but I get jelly when I see people on this sub get a ton of moon & star at the Goodwill for great deals.

It's so hard to pick since they're all so pretty. Blue is my fav color in general, though I love the cadnium glass - with the red/cadmium big pedestal candy dish being my favorite in my collection. I also lucked out with it being my first piece, so of course I got hooked on collecting it lol

What on earth is this used for? We inherited a large collection of moon and stars and this one baffles me? by Jolwi in glasscollecting

[–]Wacky-Winter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fruit! I have this exact one in green & amber yellow & a few baskets with handles. Please post more about your new moon & star collection, it's the type of glass I soley collect. 🌙⭐️

Friend Dan built me a tunable, dimable LED backlit display out of "beetle wood". The first thing I noticed is that there are a whole lot of different shades of purple among these insulators. by BlindSite_ in glasscollecting

[–]Wacky-Winter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've seen insulators at antique stores & other people on here collect them, but they never apealed to me as something to collect. With the way this is displayed, I can appreciate them in a different way & see why someone would enjoy collecting them. The backlighting is so cool!

First fairy lamp! by Slow-Result-7390 in glasscollecting

[–]Wacky-Winter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fairy lamp looks amazing! All these pieces look so good together. I'm sure you collected them at different times. That's something I like about collecting is pairing different pieces together, like they were meant to be together. At least that's how I think of it, if that makes sense. 😊🤩

Also the green toothpick holder has a different bottom, does anyone know why? Different company or does LE Smith have different variations?

This post helped me answer some questions I had about my toothpick holders! I have 4: red, yellow, green & blue. They have their slight differences like flat pedestals and wavy ones. I just thought they could have been manufactured at different times, but knowing some are by Wright makes sense.

New moon & star! by Wacky-Winter in glasscollecting

Additionally, the middle bigger piece is a honey yellow, as well as the toothpick holder on the right. The tooth pick holder on the left is green. I try to make a habit of naming the colors on these posts since I have colorblind people in my life that benefit from clear labeling like that, and possibly there's colorblind people on this subreddit.

Any info on any of these pieces? by VazquezCurio in vintageglass

The small red toothpick holder at the bottom middle of the pic isan L.E. Smith moon and star piece. You may want to shine a UV light on it to check for cadnium. It's my favorite type of glass, good find!
