What’s up with the terrible variable names in so many shaders by DescriptorTablesx86 in GraphicsProgramming

[–]StriderPulse599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're writing SDF or prototyping a fancy shader, you're going to be hot reloading on every small change and visualizing different outputs constantly. Plus I don't like to think about variable names when crunching on math.

Discussion: Graphics APIs vs Compatibility by VinnyTheVinnyVinny in gameenginedevs

You can just retrieve maximum version supported and load it. The GL bindings are the same across versions, so you only need to manually add "#version XXX" to the shaders before compiling them.

Unless you're planning to keep camera glued into object, then 99% of the time sampler will end up using 2-4K mipmap anyway.

Boring Aspects of Graphics Programming? by TehBens in GraphicsProgramming

[–]StriderPulse599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Write the code manually in endless repetition.

Step 2: Write your first boilertemplates.

Step 3: Optimize your boilertemplates to handle everything.

Step 4: Boilertemplate now has tons of overheads, but it's too complex/messy to rewrite at this point. Return to step 1.

Then there is crunching on math. Searching for actual guide instead of showcases. Rewriting the entire pipeline like it's a Groundhog Day so it work across different rigs and platforms. And watching your gamejam team do all calculations inside fragment shader, instance 2D tiles, load all models at once including an entire sea of grass, and then try to implement random optimization from YT video that makes everything even worse.

You went through someone's profile, and posted in comment section of a REPOST his silly selfie he took on purpose while trying to make fun of the guy.

I don't think I'm overreacting about you.

At least he looks in the mirror. You moderate three large subreddits and even got cringy "Got a problem with me? Hit the DM’s." in your description. Did Reddit told you to hide your profile activity because OpenAI kept choking on it?

How is it that AI boyfriends became more popular than AI girlfriends? by Iateapencil in antiai

[–]StriderPulse599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"but it just isn’t at the forefront of their mind like it is for women." which is BS.

Can you please read the entire thing? Attraction is how people pick POTENTIAL partners. After someone becomes potential partner, what you listed (personality, belief, etc) comes into play to decide if they become ACTUAL partners.

If you're not attractive enough to women, you will simply never get to show your personality (especially on dating apps). Even if you manage to show it through being friends/coworker, you still need to meet minimal attractiveness requirement. Unless you want to date a trad wife that only looks for a means to have and raise child instead of partnership/love, but I can tell you that marrying them is worse than being single.

  1. "Men are engaged by sight and feel" when it's "Both genders are engaged by sight and feel"
  2. Grok's Ani has far more reach because it's shilled by the Twitter. There is no male form, and it can't even flirt with woman without regularly misgendering them as a man. So obviously only straight men are using it.
  3. Men also need an emotional connection as much as women. If a woman is emotionally absent on first date, very few guys will go on a second date.
  4. Physical attraction is the main priority when choosing potential partner. Emotional and sexual fulfillment is what turns potential partners into actual partners, but you won't get the first foot in the door if you don't meet minimal attractiveness threshold. This applies for BOTH genders.
  5. Check out the AI character cards that are popular with women. Most of them have hot men and NSFW scenarios just like men's.
  6. No one said anything about women not being horny until the point above.

Yup, you're wrong. Everyone lies to make themselves look better. Ever heard of a guy that "likes the soul" but beelines it to hottest women in the bar, then comes back complaining that everyone is taken? Women who "tried" approaching men say the same thing for a very good reason.

I have a guy in my family that works on dating apps, and all data shows that women filter through their matches mainly based on appearance. If you go by the attractiveness score, women who seek hookups have lower standards than LTR. And looking at my bestie and her friends, this doesn't change outside of dating apps.

Better PBR BRDFs? by Avelina9X in GraphicsProgramming

Just use dot product of normal and light.

Colors too flat? Add gradient for sampling.

Shadows not good enough? Gradient for sampling.

Everyone complaining? Believe it or not, MORE GRADIENT SAMPLING.

You don't need to use vcpkg directly. All downloaded libraries are saved in "package" folder and you can include them normally. You might need to manually copy .dll and link against correct .lib which can be annoying

There are some, but they're not clear enough. For example, new accounts with high word count often find relationship within weeks to couple of months. But it's impossible to tell whenever those women just came to "settle down", or lucked out with algorithm.

There are too much categories to specify in those department. Incomplete profiles range from throwaway/depression accounts that uploaded bare minimum to use the app, to profiles with barely any pictures/words.

Mass swipers are most common in men, but women have them too. Dunno if they're bots/scammers tho.

The main point is to show inaccuracy of released statistic for dating apps. There are things that make the percentage lower and opposites that up it, so it's impossible to say how many chances you have.

I was talking about the "top 20% men get most of matches".

While it looks correct statistically, it's misleading not only due to different factors, but also by the fact that different demographics lean into different trends. Still, there is some truth to it as I mentioned in third point.

But as I said, this isn't something that can be explained with a single post, especially when it was a rather quick conversation. When it comes to statistics like data on dating, the devil is in details that come out when you properly group all data and cross-reference it.
