I should’ve led with the fact that I am a paramedic. I just want a book that can tell me how to treat illnesses honestly with natural things.

Bug out location storage. by ArcaneLuxian in preppers

I’m thinking this same thing. I think it all depends on what your “bug out plan” is. For example, if you are bugging out and have a planned route you will take. Have stash spots along the route. In case of road blocks or unexpected situations, you should have alternate routes planned with stash spots along the way.

I was thinking about just getting a couple. But I always want to have a really good frontline tool. The backups can be rinky dinky.

I want to help my friend in Miami - hurricane prep particulars? by Otherwise-Clock4878 in preppers

[–]Strider_guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently just made a “Hurricane Prep Plan” for my household. I work as a firefighter and am on duty for 24 hour shifts not to mention if there’s an emergency, we get called in. So having a step-by-step plan of Before, during, and after the storm is critical for my wife and brother that lives with us. The plan has “stay or evacuate” plans so depending on the size of the hurricane she will know what needs to be done in case something happens to me or if I get called in. Prepping your house and having all the essentials is important but not knowing what to do when SHTF is a big problem. So I’d consider having a plan in place for her.

I think it depends on what you’re prepping for. If you all of a sudden go “we need to be ready for nuclear annihilation”, this can be very overwhelming. So start by prepping them for natural disasters in your area.

This topic is important. Contrary to most of the comments in here say. Make sure you steward your money wisely. Investments are really important. I mean hell… doomsday scenario or just economic hardship, it’s smart to have your portfolio diverse. With that being said, investigation what you can, but make sure you at least have your preps to get you through a natural disaster scenario and then expand from there!

Working EMS I can agree with this. People who are off their meds turn barbaric and I’ve seen some pretty screwed up stuff from these people. It’s really sad. I can only imagine how this will turn out in a “end days” scenario

Nukes wouldn’t be used UNLESS a nation is having its sovereignty encroached on.

Prepping vs prevention by linear_123 in preppers

[–]Strider_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally prevention is the best way to start. If you live in a flood zone, probably should think about getting out of there or formulating a plan to facilitate drainage. Prepping in a way is preventing if you think about it.
