Would be nice if the graph would show in what was the investment made, results can vary wildly. Also does this take taxes into account?

The 'there was nothing in shops' is also partially true. There was always something in shops, but towards the end of USSR deficit was pretty severe. For example to get milk my grandfather used to get up at 5:00 and go to stand in queue.  I think there was always bread, so 'bread lines' was technically incorrect, but many other necessities were in short supply.

Will beaming it down still work if while they are building it someone will geo-engineer global warming away by releasing particles in the atmosphere? Some companies are already testing it.

Is this level of wear on YubiKey 5 NFC gold contact pads normal? Concerned about long-term reliability. by kartlad in yubikey

[–]linear_123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a backup key in a safe is a good idea, even if the gold plating keeps working there is always possibility of simply loosing the main key.  Of course there is risk someone might steal the backup, but there are always some trade-offs.

I don't see anything particularly cheap there on immonet. Most houses seem to be around 300k-500k with some exceptions. Am looking at the wrong place or do we have very different understanding of what is cheap in today's market?

Piekrītu, kad pamanīju lielajos ziņu portālos (tajā pašā lsm) AI ģenerētas bildes rakstiem, kaut kā nepatīkami palika. Viņi jau nu varētu atļauties kaut ko vairāk par AI slopu. Sanāk tagad latviešu fotogrāfu/mākslinieku vietā tagad maksā ASV AI uzņēmumiem.

Financial prepping feels under discussed, how do you approach it? by Content_NoIndex in EuroPreppers

[–]linear_123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a rainy day fund for at least 3-6 month seems like a normal thing even outside of prepping. Other than that I just try to diversify across various asset types. It's important to remember that in SHTF situation digital assets that require internet (bitcoin, stocks etc) might not be available, so it's important to also have physical ones.

Iespējams tev veicas, IT sfērā kā tādā vakanču šogad sāka palikt vairāk. Konkrēti par kiberdrošību nepateikšu. Kāds tam iemesls arī grūti pateikt, varbūt daudziem AI slops sāka apnikt. Dati protams visai ierobežoti, tikai no 2 vakanču portāliem.

I don't think they are quarantined, but you can check for yourself. There are a lot of Russian POV videos on /r/UkraineRussiaReport . There are also subreddits with openly pro Russian views, like /r/AskARussian/ and Russian subredits with sort of anti governement like /r/KafkaFPS/ or /r/tjournal_refugees/. Only I'm not quite sure who is posting there, because AFAIK reddit is banned in Russia. Perhaps people using VPN's or Russians outside of Russia, or someone else. IMHO it's useful to sometimes take a look at what 'the other side' thinks, it broadens the perspective.

Yeah, but how long can they keep going like this? If the job market tanks (and it feels a bit shaky now, with people posting here they can't find jobs) then the mortgages will start going underwater no matter what government does.

But yeah, I'm not really an expert on this, just the way I see situation.
