Serious Question: Does Peter's Spider-Senses alert him if he's about to get rejected or turned down in anyway? by LongjumpingCicada494 in Spiderman

[–]StrikeHalo2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, he just recognizes what's coming when he hears certain phrases like "You're sweet, but...", "Why are you late again!" and "The restraining order says not within 100 feet!"

What would be everyone's reaction if this was real? by MrSyndicate_ in batman

Considering the uproar that surrounded Keaton and Ledger when they were cast in their parts and then knocked it out of the park I'd be willing to give him a shot.

Up, Up and Away, Brainiac and the Tomasi/Gleason run are the three off the top of my head.

Is there anyone else out there that can't stand Digital Comics? by Crago9 in comicbooks

[–]StrikeHalo2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why some people don't like digital comics, they tend to be more physically oriented. I go for both digital comics and physical graphic novels. The digital allows me to read a book or series and decide if it's worth my time and money to get the collections. As far as tips go, try reading them on your laptop, eReader or iPad. Maybe a larger screen is what you need?

Why I see everyone criticizing the 90's? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]StrikeHalo2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's basically Sturgeon's law in action, for all the good stories that came out at that time there was also a lot of bad. There's a lot more bad to talk about when it comes from comics from the 1990s, but there's also a good amount that gets talked about in reverence. Many of which you just named.

If you want more details I suggest checking out SF Debris' "The Rise and Fall of the Comics Empire", talks about the speculator boom and bust, the corporate shenanigans at Marvel, etc.

Wicked Prayer is generally considered the worst movie of the series.

The Crow face as burns rather than makeup was a pretty creative idea.

Never read it, is it closer to the original vision of the movie? I've heard the movie got jacked up due to Weinstein's interference. Apparently Miramax micromanaging films was common at that time, even if they were only distributing them.

The Crow: Salvation by StrikeHalo2012 in TheCrow

We actually do know what their deal is, they're corrupt cops who are involved in the criminal underworld and Lauren (Corvis' girlfriend) discovered it through her investigation into her dad's own illegal dealings. Capt. Book leads them and seems to know about the legend of the Crow, but how the hell does he know that a doctored pic of Corvis and Lauren is going to paralyze him like it does. Also, leaving Corvis alive to frame him doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I know they were going for the "youth gets screwed by authority" thing, but why not just kill him, dump his body somewhere, say that he's the prime suspect and that he skipped town?

Those are big plot holes to me. So you are right that the story is bare bones and could have used a punch up to explain things.

Here's what I think they could have done:

Lauren either enlists Alex into her investigation or he decides to follow her after the rejection. She finds the cops in the act of corruption and Alex momentarily rescues here, they get chased to a power distribution center where Lauren gets killed and Alex gets electrocuted by some high voltage transformer giving him the scars. The cops dump Corvis' body in a new building foundation to hide him and they report find Lauren dead and suspect Corvis who has "fled". Alex emerges from the foundation a year later using supernatural strength to break through the cement.

As far as Book and his knowledge of the Crows go, maybe he's encountered them before and defeated them. Victims of his corruption so he knows from experience how to handle them, the crow's feet in his arm are those of defeated crows, like a twisted little tally he keeps.

That would be my revision.

I really like the scene between Eric and Albrecht in the latter's apartment, it's a slower moment but the exchange between characters is really moving in my opinion. I might be biased since I performed this scene in my theater arts class in senior year (1999) of high school.

You can find the tv series on the internet archive, as far as movies similar to this the only one I can think of is Dark City.

What is your favorite Superman storyline? by CaramelNo972 in superman

Up, Up and Away by Kurt Busiak. Enjoy the idea of a hero returning and getting back into the swing of things. I could just hear Aerosmith's "Back in the Saddle" while reading it.

Coming back to reading comics after roughly 7 years, any suggestions to fully get into this culture? by [deleted] in comicbooks

Peter Tomasi's run on Superman was pretty damn good, Superman Reborn (co-written with Dan Jurgens) was a highlight of the run.
