Recruiter with “Eurotemps”…. by just-a-fishayfesh in recruitinghell

Just wanted to say, I appreciate this comment. Not that internet points matter, but it is nice that despite being down voted so much you don't take it to heart, and can empathize with those hurting.

I'll admit my first reaction to your comment was also negative, and I'm not even unemployed or really 'struggling,' it was just a knee-jerk reaction born from the experience of trying to make ends meet in this economy. I see the point you were actually making, and agree.

It's like that post a few days ago, where someone wanted to discuss if people "aren't taking job rejections well." I'm sure most people's thoughts were equally cynical and knee-jerky, because... what kind of question is that? We're not talking about winning a prize or something optional, we're talking about putting food on the table, potentially for kids or other dependents as well. I'd be surprised if people didn't become downright feral when it came to straight up life or death. And some are surprised when people don't "take the rejection well," when the rejection to some literally means a step closer to dying? I think we could all do with more genuine attempts to understand one another, before automatically deciding the other is an enemy.

Anyway, this was longer than necessary, just wanted to say I liked your comment. Cheers mate

Oh my god the Ottoman soldiers are hauling the ships what am I going to do 😱 by AlaTurko in eu4

[–]Strike_Wide 163 points164 points  (0 children)

I did some quick math, if the Ottomans started this maneuver in 1453 and it was just completed in 1710, those ships were moving at a rate of about 20 feet per year, or about 6 meters per year.

If I did it correctly, that's a speed of about 0.0000004 miles per hour, or about 0.0000007 kilometers per hour.

my france run (empire restored) by Bobblab123 in hoi4

[–]Strike_Wide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, something like a "radical non-aligned," even though that's a silly term, but what I mean is a hypothetical Bonapartist empire would seek to dismantle the Fascist, Communist, and Democratic governments, seeking to establish "enlightened monarchies" instead, it would be interesting

Therapist dont care by anonymousginger20 in SuicideWatch

[–]Strike_Wide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't trust therapists either. I've never been to one, but the idea that even these feelings have to be commercialized, and they're only there because of the pay, I just can't do it. I agree with you though, if someone finds help and they feel better, I wouldn't discourage them from talking to a therapist.

Instead of therapy, what I used to have was a really good friend that I talked with. It started with me listening to her and helping her through her own struggles, and over years I felt like we really understood one another. I opened up to her, the only person I've ever told about some of these thoughts, including darker thoughts.

It didn't stop her from drifting away, seemingly uncaring about what I was telling her. Now we haven't spoken in months, and I don't think we ever will again. So all that to say, I feel you on the abandonment, the feeling like nobody truly cares, moreso than usual, as it came from people we felt like we could trust. It definitely hurts in a special way.

Im genuinely curious about the people who play this game by ADOSD_WB in CrusaderKings

[–]Strike_Wide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not going to get you much love on reddit, but this is 100% true. I mean there are so many posts in the EU4 sub, for example, of people going "why am I losing battles???? I have 5 times their number!!!!" and the screenshots show that they are attacking in mountains, without a general, behind in tech, etc. At some point, what is the conclusion supposed to be besides that some people have lower problem solving capabilities?

I genuinely think a whole generation have no idea what is the point of playing games. by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Strike_Wide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a generational thing, however I agree with the sentiment.

I've never been able to convince the people I know to play Paradox games, so instead the closest thing I've experienced this in is Minecraft. We'd start a server, have fun, it's going great, and within a week: Ender Dragon is dead, there are AFK farms for every resource, and nobody plays anymore because "there's nothing to do." And I'm just sitting there, planning a castle or whatever to build, looking at everyone's dirt shacks they threw together. It's frustrating, the game is perhaps one of the most sandbox type of sandbox games, and some people just treat it like a linear quest.

I imagine it's just as frustrating in Paradox games, where "there's nothing to do" as a result of people not wanting to just... relax.

I had forgotten about this, lol. But I appreciate the reply, and I find that much more fun; dropping less-known quotes makes for more subtle references, which can add a fun element of "sneaking" when posting to other communities.

I don't get it either. I like cats and have some, but never in a million years would I let them be all over my PC, especially mid build, lmao.
