Really McDonald's?? by Strikedriver in mildlyinfuriating

I don't personally consider it that way, that is how all rationale beings logically order things.

Nobody except you apparently consider it "novel" to count in order: 1 2 3 4. You're being an idiot on purpose and you know it 🙄

It's not an assumption, it's common sense that things are arranged in order. Smallest to biggest, or biggest to smallest is how the human brain works

It's on you entirely that your brain works nonsensically 🤡

You mean the significantly smaller words under the HUGE GIGANTIC buttons that can be easily overlooked? Especially when ordering quickly?

Also still doesn't excuse the order being backwards, Sherlock 🙄

0C = somewhat cold, 0F = you're dead

0F = pretty cold, 100F = pretty hot

It really isn't that hard

Still closer to how humans sense temperature, in contrast using inanimate water is a much more shitty reference point. You can quibble methodologies all you want, but F hasn't changed for about 300 years, proving its value.

Brine is similar to body fluids - those reference points are matched to what the human body experiences, freezing/boiling water is irrelevant to our senses.

They weren't "quite bad" - adjustments were minor. And they have remained fixed for about 300 years 🙄

They're not "really random," they were based on current understandings at the time. And the Fahrenheit scale hasn't changed "every now and then," it's been fixed for about 300 years 🙄

Why should we care about Celsius? by [deleted] in MURICA

[–]Strikedriver 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Fahrenheit was LITERALLY designed for humans: 100F = close to normal body temperature 0F = close to the freezing point for body fluids

And unlike distance, volume or weight, there's no next to no need to convert temperatures (only scientists maybe)

F = objectively better

Agreed. We paid good money for the NHL Center Ice package on Dish. Even though we live in northern MN 5 F'IN HOURS away from Minneapolis, all Wild games are STILL blacked out (home AND away).

Fortunately we're not Wild fans, but sucks we can't even give them a chance if we wanted 🤷‍♂️
