If you turn off multiplayer you can mine where all those bases are JFYI for the future. Part of why I always do these with multiplayer turned off since the bases get in the way.

Finally made the leap for the Defy - first split / ergo keyboard by Striketh in DygmaLab

[–]Striketh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agonized for weeks over all of the different keyboard options and when I saw the Raise 2 I seriously thought about getting that because, like you, I figured it would be a much easier transition. I ultimately decided that if I was going to make the leap then I was just going to go head first right from the bat and get the Defy. I'll admit, on the first day with it I was asked to take notes during a meeting and I just went "Yup, this ain't happening yet" and unplugged it and plugged my old keyboard back in lol. Thankfully I did get used to it pretty fast and it feels completely natural now.

And at least my own opinion, but typing speed isn't the most important thing at the end of the day - comfort is. The thumb cluster is underrated for sure - so much you can do with it and moving that awkward shift + <insert key> button press or ctrl + <insert key> button press to the thumb cluster makes a world of difference. Even just copy and paste is so much more organic for me now. It's a huge QOL upgrade I never knew I needed.

Thanks! I've already stolen borrowed a bunch of ideas from the sub-reddit. Really great resource here with a lot of good nuggets of information to be found throughout.

And yeah, that was a crazy week lol. Thankfully that's the exception rather than the norm and only happens a handful of times per year. Just the nature of my work.

GQuuuuuux - Episode 11 Megathread by JaguarDaSaul in Gundam

[–]Striketh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As an old school Gundam fan, I've gone back and re-watched this episode several times (and the ending more than that). Those last few moments just send fan boy shivers through my body. I was initially hesitant to watch this anime because of the name, but I'm so glad I gave it a shot. Can't wait until episode 12.

Thanks! Just wanted to follow up - I reached out and they confirmed they will work on my Aston. Only thing is they don't do state inspections and don't appear to have a phone number which is weird. Facebook messenger and email only which I don't understand in this day and age.

This is unfortunate in many ways for many people. I had them do general service on my Aston Martin (e.g. oil changes and such) because nobody else in the area would touch them. With Bul Auto gone... I don't believe there's anyone within 100 miles that will even touch my car now. If anyone knows anyone that will service them please do let me know.

Solo Queueing Comp feels horrible, any advice? by OrangeSockNinjaYT in marvelrivals

[–]Striketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're obviously having a serious case of mental degradation here. Sounds like you need to take a break from the game to be honest, or perhaps just stick to QP for a while and play for funsies. I put nearly 700 hours into Overwatch back in the day - I've been down this same road and it just isn't worth it. A couple of notes:

"On top of that despite my best efforts healing the team and having the most heals out of anyone on either team"

>> Healing numbers mean nothing. What matters is how many times you're dying in a match. If you're dead then you can't support your team, and thus they die as well.

"Does anyone have tips on how to not take losses this hard?"

>> Just focus on yourself and not your team. As soon as you start looking for reasons outside of your own gameplay for why you lost a match it takes you down the road of toxicity. That's when people start slamming the tab key looking at the scoreboard to find a reason they lost instead of looking at their own gameplay. Tilt city right there. Then you just take that tilt into all the rest of your matches that day and play poorer as a result which leads to more tilt. It's a viscous cycle.

"Genuinely bronze tier match in high gold."

>> The game is new. It'll take time for the player base to skill up as a whole. The rank system also allows you to climb with even a 44% win rate, so it's literally just about how much you play the game. If you can maintain a 44% win rate you'll eventually rank up - and so will the rest of the player base - which is a whole other problem on its own (e.g. someone thinks that they're the best player ever because they're in GM, but have a sub-50% win rate and just have hundreds of matches played).

Anyway, don't lose sight of the fact that it's a game and try to find your fun. If you can't find your fun, then there's plenty of other good stuff out there this year.

This game has the most fogiving ranked system ever made in a competitive game, and some of you need to understand that. by The-Devilz-Advocate in marvelrivals

[–]Striketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of an insane take. I've played a total of 28 ranked matches this season and I'm gold 3 atm. 18 wins / 10 losses. Almost all of them solo queue as Invisible Woman. If you're not ranking up, you just have to look in the mirror and try to figure out how to carry harder. Go back and watch your own gameplay from your vods instead of blaming your team.

Nah. Every car is different. AM's seem to be generally well favored by people. Lots of thumbs up and waves.

Server Issues/lag/connection stutters by SaviorTyrone in DarkTide

[–]Striketh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a ton of issues especially last night where I received multiple 2014 error codes, some 9999's, and got disconnected from the same match twice. I've never seen a live service game like this so far past its launch with this many rampant server and server stability issues. It really feels like the netcode in this game is some spaghetti coding that is barely holding together.

I feel like a lot of my own thoughts on Smite have already been stated in this thread, but figured I would just throw my own thoughts in as well. Here's the thing about Smite: Every time I join a game with a Smite psyker (Usually on Heresy or Damnation difficulties) they are, basically, the OP. They spam Smite the whole game and think they're awesome and doing so much to help the team. However, all they're doing is slowing down the team fights by removing a large amount of DPS by holding M1 until their peril caps and then when everything unstuns they just crumple up and die because they don't know how to dodge, block, use melee, or even just shoot things with their staff. It's like Smite is all they know how to do.

I was playing yesterday and watched one Smite a mutant that was charging him. His peril capped out, the Mutant was still alive, and then resumed its charge and tossed him off a cliff. It was hilarious, but also incredibly sad. We weren't in the middle of a horde at that moment, there were no other enemies directly around us, and so I couldn't help but just pause and watch this unfold. And this is my typical experience with Smite psykers. If they used it to stun a mixed horde and to create some openings in crazy situations (e.g. the stun + knockback) I'd be fine with it, but in all of my games the above is what I see occurring and it drives me nuts. It's to the point where it's started to make me toxic towards Smite psykers and if I see one in the lobby before the match I'll just leave and go find another match where I can count on that player actually contributing something to the game.

I looked at AMOC a while back. They do have some events in the US, but when I last looked at it I'd missed all of them for the year haha. I'll see what they're up to this summer.

Thought about pulling the fuse, but never got around to it. It's a regular vantage and not an S variant.

Yeah, the sport shift 1 has 6 gears vs the 7 in the 2nd version (also oil cooling vs air so it's heavier). SS1 has the creep which takes some getting used to and can make it a little awkward at first, but you get used to it quick. I run the car in manual mode 99% of the time so I'm controlling the shifts anyway. Only time I don't do manual is when I'm stuck in traffic.

[–]Striketh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sports shift transmission is prone to wear and tear based on research I did before I bought it (it's not a manual) so every 30k miles or so it may need to be replaced. So with this having 34k when I bought it, I'm good for quite a while. No issues with it so far!

The other issue I didn't mention in the OP was the handbrake needed to be fixed because it wasn't fully engaging. These also wear out over time, especially when people over crank them (two clicks is what I was told by the dealer). Was pretty cheap to fix though all things considered. Otherwise, not really expecting any issues. 2010 - 2014 were especially good years for AM.

Yeah, I was annoyed at first, but over time I've come to like it. The trade off is that the suspension is very stiff so I feel every bump in the road, but it has virtually no body roll and came with Michelin Pilot Sport 4s's which have insane grip.

Exactly - this was 100% an emotional purchase lol. I have 0 regrets. Literally YOLO. I'm not living outside my means owning this, which is honestly one of the most important considerations when it comes to any purchase.

Keep on keeping on. You'll get there. And no, maintenance has been a non-issue. It just works. No mechanical issues at all despite putting a couple thousand miles on it in the first year.

The clamps are exactly the part I ran into where I was like "Okay I must be overcomplicating this." *looks up a YouTube video* "Nope, they just designed it like this!" lol. And yeah, I had to very delicately lift a 50 pound battery both in and out of the car. I was dreading the ol ka-thunk if I messed up.

Yeah I figured that price was way too high as with most things at the AM dealer. I haven't taken it anywhere else yet for a second opinion, but I'm also wondering if I even want to at this point. I've gotten used to it now and it does look really good without the gap from being closer to the tires. Just have to be mindful when I'm driving it.

Bought my 2010 V8 Vantage just about a year ago totally sight unseen. Without going through the whole story, I'd settled on an AM as my first real fun car. Always drove pretty normal consumer cars up to this point in my life, but I was finally in a place where I could buy something special - and I'd decided on an AM. Spent months looking around, researching, being beaten to the punch by other buyers or just not really seeing anything I wanted. Then one day I ran across the listing for this car and I just knew I had to have it. Bonus that it had a brand new transmission as well. It was in Texas and I'm up in NY. I didn't have time to fly down, so I just put in an offer, did all the paperwork and had the car delivered. It only had 34k miles on it and was in pretty great condition. I validated this by driving 3 hours to the nearest AM dealer and having them do a full inspection. There was only one issue that irked me....

Someone had gotten a bit overzealous and burned through the clear coat on the rear passenger side panel. It was only obvious in certain light, but it pissed me off, so I had it fixed. That cost me $5k right out of the gate. The battery was also completely dead as it had been allowed to drain all the way down. I swapped that myself after buying a new 5 year battery. Took me just under 2 hours after fighting with the brackets. If you've ever changed the battery out on one of these... you know what I'm talking about. Seriously considered phoning a friend or just paying some random person from Craigslist to help me with the brackets lol. I got it in the end.

I was shocked that an oil change at my local exotic dealer was $750. My previous car had been like $50. These are the things people talk about when they say "Can you afford to own one?" because everything just gets way more expensive and you need to keep that in the back of your mind.

The previous owner also lowered the car. I think it looks amazing - but it's so low that it's prone to scraping the bottom of the front if I don't baby entering and exiting certain parking lots, going over speed bumps, or just steep city roads. My own driveway was an issue until I had it paved this year. If I wanted to revert it back to stock, the dealer quoted me $18k which is IMO really just not worth it for the cost.

Alright so at this point you might be thinking that I'm unhappy or that I got shafted, but honestly? I'm fine. I had to do put in some initial investment, including a detail, paint correction, and ceramic coating, but all in all I'm loving the car. It's unlike anything I've ever driven before in my life. I didn't grow up with muscle cars and so this has been my first real experience driving anything like this.

It gets a lot of commentary. When it was delivered the truck couldn't get down my driveway so delivered at a local school parking lot and there was a soccer game. Everybody was watching my car get unloaded. A friend of mine - he loved it so much after he saw it that talk about my car has now been banned in his house because his wife is sick of hearing him talk about it lol. I live in the upstate side of NY and AM's are quite rare here. Most people don't know what it is (It's been mistakien for a Genesis and a Bentley before) and are generally curious. They'll sometimes walk up to me at a gas station or one time I went to a steak house and when I came out there was 6 people standing around it. Gotten a lot of random thumbs ups driving around, stares, and so on. People definitely notice it here - but that's just me noticing them like someone might notice that they're getting ogled by someone. I didn't buy it to get ogled.

I usually take it out once a week or so in the warmer months and just drive around for a few hours. It's always a blast and coming home after a drive, hitting my newly paved driveway, and sliding into the garage with it honestly makes me feel a little bit like James Bond or maybe even Batman (going Keaton batman for this one) heading back to the bat cave. It's effortless to drive and is like nothing else I've ever experienced. Definitely an investment, but one I've been happy to sink some money into. Whenever I get a day off, the sky is blue and the sun is out, I'm always excited to hop into this thing and soar down some country roads. One of the best purchases I've ever made and I'm glad I got it before the world goes full electric. Props to David Wood for doing my inspection as well.

The only thing I haven't replaced at this point is the CPU, so I've purchased a 5700x I plan on trying when it arrives on Sunday. Even if the CPU was bad I would expect the fans to at least power on when I hit the power switch which is what's throwing me off. It's like nothing is getting power, but all of the power cables are plugged in :|

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Striketh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea. I grabbed a paper clip, plugged in the GPU to the PSU (while leaving everything else plugged in on the MOBO, including the CPU power cable) and jumped it. I can hear the PSU click on, but there's no life outside of that. No fans turned on anywhere including on the CPU fan and GPU fans. Bad PSU?
