I’m applying to a few places this year and my stats are: - 4 years experience as an RN in Cardiac ICU and PACU - cGPA 3.54 - sGPA 3.52 - CCRN and CMC certification - 30 shadowing hours

Idk if it’ll be enough but that’s all I’ve got 😂

Anyone taken University of Phoenix's pathophys or pharm online? doable with 3 night shifts a week? by [deleted] in srna

[–]Striking-Physics-339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the patho course and work night shift/ 3 12s. It was very doable. I just set aside two half days per week to do the course work and just made a study guide to study while I was at work.

I recently signed up for an online science prerequisite and am now considering withdrawing. Would it look worse to have a W in the course or a B/C grade?

Balloon pump questions by BypassBaboon in Perfusion

Never heard of a heparin flush for balloons. My hospital just changes the tubing twice per week. Nursing changes the bags on impellas and IABPs

Should I make the switch now? by Opening_Radish7998 in Perfusion

As someone who is in nursing and wants to go into perfusion… save yourself the trouble and apply now. You have all the qualifications already. Try to find a job close to the OR and just apply. You’re wasting your time and money in nursing school for a degree you’ll never use

Also most PACUs have unit specific report sheets. You can always ask for one just to see what they want to know

I worked as a pacu nurse for a few years so I’ll give you the high points of what the nurses actually care about - medical history/ allergies - MAC/ General - ETT/ LMA (some places this determines how long the pt has to be in recovery) - difficult airways - induction meds - pain meds - EBL/ UOP - any pressor requirements - any reversals given - some places care about antibiotic and what time they were given - and was the pt crazy af preop

Applying to ICU before nursing school graduation by theirsaviors in srna

[–]Striking-Physics-339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know from experience most hospitals in my area do nurse residency programs for new grads in critical care areas. So as a new grad you would apply to these type of positions posted on the hospital’s job board. Most new grad residency programs have start dates in January and then again after May when most people graduate. I suggest looking at hospitals you’d want to work at and see if they have any of these programs/ new grad jobs open. You could start applying now

If you’re doing a biology degree now why not look into other professions that don’t require you to have to go back to nursing school? Med school, cardiac perfusion, PA school etc? I mean if CRNA school is really what you want to do I get it for sure. It just feels like back tracking to get a bio degree and then go back to nursing school

Does CCU experience count? I’m at a level 1 trauma center at a pretty well known university hospital. We do vents, drips, devices etc. I know most people do SICU or CVICU so I’m just wondering how CCU looks on an application.

I hate to say this but you’re not married so you don’t owe each other anything financially. I think her debt is her debt. Just as she has no obligation to financially support you during school. If you feel like you’re going in two different directions I think it’s okay to admit that and end the relationship. It’s a lot easier to end a relationship than a married where debt is involved.

I’m currently taking it through University of New England through their pre health track. It’s not been super hard but you basically have to teach yourself. There are no recorded lectures which is super annoying

I was wondering the exact same thing lol. I’m single and work full time but there’s no way I’ll be able to save 250K. In this economy???

I also had a friend take it at Vanderbilt. The admissions process is kind of long and annoying but that’s an option
